Last season about half my plantings were perennials. I thought I'd see what might come back. I planted two small hydrangea bushes, three lillies of some variety, two daylillies, several hosta, a coneflower and a clematis. As expected I think I have some losses and then some other stuff maybe just hasn't started its blooming time yet.
I took a walk around the yard this afternoon and here's what seems to have survived.
This is the first hydrangea I planted last season. It seems to have lived. The second one that I planted in the front yard appears to be dead.

I was happy to see my pretty purple clematis regrowing. It even has a flower bud beginning to form.

Both Dalillies seem to have made it. They both are beginning to sprout like this.

Of the other three lily varieties I planted, only one shows any sign of growth. It may be too soon to tell if the other two survived or not.
No sign of my hostas or cone flower yet.
Because the mailbox area was looking so drab, I picked up six viola plants two weeks ago. They seem to be doing well. Both violas and pansies are great in-between season flowers since they seem to be hardy enough to withstand the cold.

The dafodils below are not looking so hot after our several day deep freeze last week. Most of mine are not blooming any more. I think the bulbs need to be dug up and separated, but since I'm moving that won't get done in the Fall.

The Bradford pear is in full bloom. Pretty soon it will look like snow in the yard once those flower petals start falling off.

I also have four Encore Azalia bushes that I planted two seasons ago. They are starting to bud now.

Looks pretty good, a lot is coming back.
Everything is popping up to bid you 'Goodbye '!
I'll have to wait until April to see flowers here.
It's kind of sad to be leaving your perennials, isn't it?
It's going to be hard to leave your posies behind when you move. You could always dig some of them up and take them with you. I brought a ginormous hibiscus with me when I moved in here. I just wish I'd snatched up my tree peony, too.
Thanks for posting this to

I can't believe your bradford pear trees are in full bloom.....mine only have a couple blooms!!! Couple of my azalea bushes do have blooms.........I was so exciting when I saw the blooms I started jumping up and down and hurt my ankle!!! LOL It is feeling better now, thank goodness!!!!
You know, if you do want to take some plants to the new house, you can dig up small pieces of some now or in a couple of weeks and put them in small pots. Or you can wait until right before you leave and take some divisions and put the roots in a baggie and stick them in athe ground as soon as you get there.

nice pics Marianne...........
Your encore azaleas will do well, they are a very nice plant. Are you going to take any with you when you move? Both will move & grow, but will take a year to start blooming again.
