How Much Do Those Lavish White House Parties Cost?
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Michelle and Barack Obama are used to regularly partying in Chicago, and now that it's harder for them to go to parties, they are bringing the parties to the White House. And at least one group - Freedom Watch - is seeking information about the cost of those parties to taxpayers. According to one report on ABC, many of the parties have been on Wednesdays, and one featured a Stevie Wonder concert That cannot be cheap.
I seem to remember hearing Obama saying that we're all going to have to reign in our spending. I guess he forgot to read his own speech or take it to heart.
Here's the story as posted at WorldNetDaily: White House Nightlife Under Investigation

What pisses me off even more is that he cut the salaries of people who work in the white house, but left his salary untouched. What a piece of shit.
How long is "a while", Marilyn? Has Freedom Watch filed FOI requests to find out how much other presidents have spent on entertaining?
The White House is, among other things, the home of the president and his family. If he wants to invite people over to watch the Super Bowl, shoot pool, go bowling, or whatever, I don't have a problem with it.
As Wil stated it is their home. If you own your home and have a bank loan do you want the board of that bank to come to your house and scrutinize your finances?
Or do you want your or your husbands employer nosing into your life wondering how much you pay for this and that...after all your employer does pay your salary isnt it just as much their business as this is yours?
Larry Klayman, Esq. and was started in 2003. Before that, he was founder and chairman of Judicial Watch which began in 1994.
Just because he and Michelle were partiers doesn't mean that they get to have parties every night at the White House. Not on my dime. Every President and first family gives up something when they accept the job as President. For them, it looks like it's the party life they should be giving up.
The president of France coming to dinner and getting a corn dog and a can of Pepsi.
You know the taxpayers paid for the white presidents parties too.
The White house is the home of Barack and Michelle and their 2 children. If their entertain so what.
Do you entertain in YOUR house?
The president gets a salary.
Are you complaining about any congressman or woman entertaining?
This is borderline grasping at straws and goes into the dumber than shat catagory.
We get it you dont like black people especially when they are more articulate, smart and successful than you will ever be.
I am sure he has a bank account because umm, duh, he made money before he was the president.
And the ones doing any serving or whatever for these parties are getting Paid and I am sure it isn't 3.00 an hour like most waitress's make.
I don't get why people are up in arms about parties, playsets, undies or whatever because of Obama, but never seen this with Bush, Reagan, Carter or numerous other presidents in the past. (or any of these others who would fly to Camp David and go fishing, or to China and have a meal....)
Marilyn you may think that all your drivel about how you are just a concerned citizen is believable but it is not.
You are upset that uppidy negro is in the WHITE house.
You are pathetic.
Yes, it would. Since it turns out that "a while" means since 2003, that means there have only been two presidents in the White House since Freedom Watch has been around, right?
Did they request figures for the Bush's entertainment expenses?
Did they, or you, complain last year when Vince Gill and Amy Grant performed at the Governors' Dinner? Or when Ronan Tynan performed the year before that? Or when Tynan was invited back to sing at the St. Patrick's Day Reception the next year?
What about the Marine Corps Band? They play a lot of gigs at the White House, including the recent Governors' Dinner. Is that OK, or do you only "support the troops" when they're invading other countries and killing people and getting blown to pieces at taxpayers' expense?
Wil but the war is gods war. So its OK. And when Bush insisted on flying a plane off a ship to surprise great the troops I guess that was a justifiable expense.
I sure hope you don't value your reputation as a journalist. You've blown it.
We're talking about a President who said he was going to be different, who said he was going to watch how money was spent and would be accountable. I believe that extends to the White House if he's using my money to entertain.
You cannot continue to blame Bush for everything. Obviously this President thinks he can fix the world in his first 6 months. But he won't keep the promises he made on the campaign trail.
But I understand that you cannot be angry with him. Just like you couldn't get mad at Clinton for lying under oath about his exploits.
Liberals think the only thing important is that they theirs. I get that.
But he didn't say he was going to serve microwave mac-and-cheese at state dinners, or auction off the White House and use the money to buy a double-wide.
"I believe that extends to the White House if he's using my money to entertain."
You've offered absolutely no evidence that the President has misused any taxpayer funds to entertain anybody.
"You cannot continue to blame Bush for everything."
I don't care what Bush served for dinner, or who he chose for any after-dinner entertainment. But you do, don't you, Marilyn? If I went back through your posts, I'd find one that you wrote last year bitching about how much money Bush spent on entertaining at the White House, wouldn't I? I mean, you're not bitching about it just because it's Obama, right?
If you stop being naughty maybe you will be invited.
He needs no wasting tax payers money on himself. He can pay for it and he does pay for his outings. All previous presidents did when it is not official.
Granted all presidents spend money on parties but shouldn't we at least cut back when we are in a depression?
And you figure this, how? President Obama was elected by bot a popular and Electoral College MA-JOR-I-TY! That suggests to me that he IS, in fact, EXACTLY what WE the ACTUAL majority want.
