I've done searches, and been to doctors, but haven't come up with anything... I am sooo frustrated, but I know there are a lot of intelligent members here at Gather, so I was wondering if any of you had experienced, or known anyone who experienced anything similar, and had any ideas or suggestions.
I have been suffering from severe body swelling for about three or four years off and on, progressively getting worse. For about a week now, I have been so swollen, I can barely walk... can't get any of my shoes on, etc. My feet and ankles look so grotesque... the inside of them almost looks like a broken bone, and they are very tender to the touch. My legs and everything are stretched so tight... it's freaky, and painful.
Like I said, I have been to many doctors. They have tried me on different diuretics, with no success. The diuretics have also been dangerous, because I have a very low potassium level.
I am, normally, on several medications, and it seems that one medication always causes another... I quit taking them all, with my move, and not having a doc up here yet. A little over a week ago, I started taking my thyroid meds again, 'cause I knew they were important (I have hypothyroidism), but the swelling started really badly again. I quit taking it four days ago, to see if that was the cause, but the swelling is getting worse and worse.
I am just so frustrated, and it is frightening, especially because my little boy worries soooo much about me... I don't wanna go back to the hospital, first, because they never do anything anyway, and second, because it scares him so badly. I did break down and schedule a doctor's appointment, but am not hopeful, with the way things have turned out with every doctor in the past.
Anyway... just very curious, and would love to hear any ideas at all, whether they be traditional medicine or something alternative. I'm desperate here! lol
Thanks for letting me vent!

Also, massages can help with swelling.
Keep friends with your doc. The swelling could be fluid retention and you need, with your doc's advice, to try to find a diuretic which suits you. You cannot afford to ignor these symptoms. Make a nuisance of yourself until you find answers.
Keep on keepin' on! Tell the doc about your problems...when they come, not weeks after they start. You'll find a way through; there will be a happier outcome.
Peace.
I went to this new doc this evening... oh my, he was beyond terrible! lol Since I've had the problem a few times in the past and the docs haven't figured anything out, he told me... and I'm not kidding... "I don't know what you want, me to do a miracle? I have other patients to see. If they didn't figure it out, how do you expect me to today"?!!!!
Well, I wasn't expecting him to figure it out today, but was hoping he would at least have some ideas... after all, isn't that what they go to medical school for???!!! I was soooo angry... I told my dad, I'll just go to the ER tomorrow, if I'm still having a hard time walking or standing... at least they'll do some tests!!!
Hope you find the problem soon!
i stopped eating my romaine noodles that i love and after a week i was fine,do not ever eat anything with MSG in it.........if your heart is fine and your kidneys are good look at what you are eating or drinking, even if youve consumed it for years sometimes just for no reason you become allergic.
