The Amazing Race Throws In A Twist & Sets A New Record

Married couple Victoria and Brad were eliminated on the last Amazing Race and tonight the surprises keep coming as the Blind U-Turn is introduced to the remaining racers. Still in Romania, first place team Mel and Mike were the first to depart and learned they were heading to Siberia. Their 10 rubble note was the clue to their next location, a dam. Jodi and Christie were the least excited for Siberia as they probably had no clue where it was. Their taxi driver led them to Internet cafe, how helpful. It gave them a chance to order tickets but didn't really save them time. Over in another taxi Mark/Mike had a driver call the airport for them but they ended up calling Cara/Jaime . They acted like they were the Lufthansa airline which was humorous but they didn't really play it up enough to screw them up.

In the airport all teams got different flights as there were several different connections. Although that was the case they all met up to connect to Moscow so all were equalized. Five teams missed the flight though so Mark/Mike, Kisha/Jen and Christie/Jodi arrived in Moscow first, only to sit and wait for the dam to open. Once it opened they got a clue to head to a church to find their next clue. Mark and Mike arrived at the box first and it was time for their Siberia Detour: Stack or Construct. In Stack they had to stack fire wood while in Construct they had to build a set of wood shutters. They then had to take them to a house and install them. All three teams chose stack which was aided by some Siberian singers. Seems they have locals at all the Detours lately. But it makes it more fun as they laugh at them all screwing up!

Kisha and Jen had fun building their stack while Mark and Mike had issues getting the correct pattern. Seems they should pick up the pace though as the other five teams have arrived  and after a sleep in the airport I'm sure they're more rested as well. Back at the Detour the crazy Siberians were out in full force as the alcohol was being passed around. Some teams realized the pattern wasn't their only problem as the stacks tended to fall easy, with Mike and Mark being fist to knock down both the example and their own stacks. Guess they'll be logging for awhile now huh! Guess not as they headed off for the other Detour as the girls relished in beating the guys.  Back over with the other teams all were in their taxi and were off for their first clue. We didn't get to see much of them though as Mark/Mike were having even more trouble finding their new Detour as Kisha/Jen finished their stacking.

With Kisha and Jen in first they were the first to learn about the Blind U-Turn. Now if you U-Turn someone you do not have to post your own picture so they have no clue who actually used it. Kisha/Jen didn't use it since they were already in first and learned they had to head to a local amusement park. Christie/Jodi didn't use the U-Turn either for the same reason. Over at the Detour everyone else caught up and also chose the stacking task. All were having just as much fun with the wood while Kisha/Jen arrived at the Road Block. One team member had to ride down a toboggan ride and memorize letters as they rode down. Kisha finished in less then the four minutes she had to do but missed a letter, forcing her to go back up. Jodi/Christie were there with them so it was going to decide first place.

Back over at the wood pliers they were all worried about knocking over piles and the Margie/Luke and Cara/Jaimie alliance showed up in full force. They complained about Amanda not doing any work yet why should they care when it's helping them finish faster. On her first ride down Christie finished in the four minutes and got all of the letters. She didn't realize that they were already in the right order though and wasted time trying to figure out the name she needed. As Christie/Jodi moved on the piles were falling back at the wood. Mel/Mike, Cara/Jaimie and Amanda/Kris had their piles fall. Only Cara/Jaime decided to not go and do the other Detour while Mark and Mike were STILL building their shutters. Lucky for Kisha/Jen though as they were able to get the last letter and move onto figuring out the name.

Now that Margie/Luke and Tammy/Victor finished their logging it was time for the U-Turn. Luke wanted to use the U-Turn so badly and they decided to give it to Amanda and Kris. They did so because they wanted to give Cara/Jaime more time to stay in the game, showing just how good of friends they are. Back at the Road Block Kisha beat Christie in finishing the Russian name which put them in first. Christie then, somehow, got the name which I'm sure was probably given to her. I mean who really knows it. That put them in second while Mike/Mark were lapped by the other teams. Margie/Luke and Tammy/Victor then arrived at the Road Block while those who had their stack fall arrived at the construction Detour. Seems everyone was getting to their next location as both finished teams arrived at their Pit Stop giving Christie and Jodi the first place finish. Um how did that happen? Seems like Kisha and Jen had trouble finding the entrance, putting them in the second spot. Could one of these all female teams win the season? It's possible. Ok maybe not Christie and Jodi.

At the Road Block Victor easily finished while Luke had fun going down the toboggan. He had no clue what the word could be though which frustrated him, causing Margie to worry. Now if Christie can get it I'm sure Luke can, but who knows. Back at the construction Detour the guys were still having trouble figuring out where to install the shutters while Cara/Jaime finished their stacking. That could give them the time they needed to survive, even without the U-Turn. Luke continued having trouble with the Road Block as there was no way he could get the name without guessing. And let me tell you there are a TON of combinations. Back over at the Detours, Cara/Jaime finished and were happy to see they weren't U-Turned. Mel finally found the shutter location and all three teams began installing. Back at the Road Block Luke he finally got the name, after several tries, and headed to the Pit Stop. Cara/Jaime arrived there just as they were leaving and Jaime was chosen to head down the toboggan.

Now that all three shutter teams were done it became obvious that Kris/Amanda were probably going as they were already in last place. Forcing them to redo the log pile is like a death sentence, which I'm sure Margie/Luke won't be happy to find out. With Tammy/Victor coming in third Jaime got the name on her first try, surprising both girls and sending them to the Pit Stop. They arrived in fifth after friends Margie/Luke came in fourth, showing they didn't need to use the U-Turn after all. Amanda/Kris ended up finishing their second Detour and had a feeling it was Jodi/Christie or Kisha/Jen. Wait until they find out it was Margie and Luke, the people they thought would feel bad for them.

Back at the toboggans Mel and Mike were finished and off to the Pit Stop. Mark and Mike finished as well putting them into the second to last position. Kris headed down the toboggan as the last team, while Mel/Mike checked in as the sixth place team. Mark and Mike had trouble paying their taxi while Kris finished the Road Block. The taxi driver finally let them go but it cost them some time but allowed them to check in before Kris and Amanda. The U-Turned team then meat with Phil and learned that they were eliminated. They didn't really seem too sad to be off but it just shows that relationships weren't meant for this season of the race. None of the remaining teams are in a relationship, something that has yet to happen on the show. All are either related in some way or friends and will three female teams in the final seven could it give them a good chance in finally winning? The odds are good but as we know from the All Star season, that doesn't mean anything.
