Missouri River 340 or MR340 is a long distance paddling race from Kansas City (Kaw Point) to St Charles. In its first year (2006) it gathered 15 boats at the start. In the following year there were over 70 boats competing, and last year 150. This year 250 boats, solo and tandem kayaks and canoes and 3 to 6 person team boats are expected.
2006 Missouri River 340 - 15 boats starting at the Kaw Point
2007 Missouri River 340 - over 70 boats starting at the Kaw Point
2008 Missouri River 340 - 150 boats starting at the Kaw Point
Let’s get some insight into this MR340 phenomenon. I have asked several three time finishers to write about their racing experience on the Missouri. Here are their stories:
Bryan Hopkins, West Hansen, Christina Glauner, Chuck and Di McHenry, Katie Pfefferkorn
