I've wanted to find all the posts pertaining to certain characters, and instead I seem to find only one of each. I wonder if we could all add a tag unique to our characters? I mean, if I added "WE Jenny" to my two posts, that tag would bring them both up. If Doyle added "WE Tinker" (right?) I'd find all the posts about him, and so on.
I find that if I'm meeting a character, I want to read everything about him/her/it before I comment. It's hard to do that -- for me, anyway.
Take care
Why not have each character create a group for their character? Each character could set up their group so that they are the only ones who can post articles to it (I think that's an option) and then publish their articles to their character's group along with the Writing Essential group. The group would act as a repository for all of that character's posts, enabling those who are behind (me) to easily keep up with characters of interest.
The (small) drawback is that once characters create their groups, they are going to have to edit their pieces to publish to their new group and all moderators of those groups will have to re-approve them. At this early stage, it shouldn't be too difficult.
I think a cheat sheet page of group links will be necessary. It might also help if all of the new groups use at least one common group tag. Characters that interact could also include links to group spaces of the characters they interact with in the links section that we can now add to groups. Another idea would be to ask Jennifer to add links to each character in the links section of the Writing Essential group, although the limit is 50, and I can see other WE editors possibly having problems with that.
This looks like fun.

Huh? I'm afraid the only one syllable words my brain can come up with right now are "F*ck off, Dan."
"Just want everyone to know I am starting a dissiluional troll program, LOL"
Perfect! What a great idea...to have it run by a delusional toy bear.
"So how is things in Kentucky?"
You'd know if you weren't bent over some log, looking the other way, next time you visit. Apparently we know bears do a lot of things in the woods now.
"Maybe if you had a bigger brain, it wouldn't hurt to think of words with more then one syllables? "
Maybe if you had a bigger brain, plagiarism wouldn't be your only shot at being creative with words.
"Wait wait wait, what do I see?
i see Doyle, Sandy, Janna, HEY"
This is quality children's writing Dan! If you could capitalize 'I' since it refers to you...it would be better...but you could likely write one of those "A is for Apple" books, you know?
"Is this a serious writing format or a troll get together? LOL "
Before or after you showed up attention hound? Are you that desperate? Why don't you just scooch right along and let the adults play now. Find that toy bear. Give it a hug. Thaaaaat's a good boy.
[ *whispers* ]
You know he's not going to get one published but he'll be out of our hair for ficken months trying to figure out a word that starts with 'Q'. Just sayin'.
Ahhhh, my philosopher friend! That, my dear, is the age old question.
" i have a couple i am quite proud of saying "mine".....(i think anyway)"
Well...Thank you! As fate would have it...it turns out that I am a troll -- or so I'm told. I think that qualifies me as your troll. I do have a distinct fondness for sitting in the shade, under bridges by babbling brooks, I have to admit. I haven't been told my responsibilities that come with this metamorphosis, but would have NO problem yelling at kids to get off my bridge, even though I always thought it would be "get off my lawn!" instead.
Anyone interested...my fingernails appear unchanged now that I'm a troll. :o)
Grrrrrrrrrrr ! ! ! !
[ * I'm a ferocious troll * ]
If a person comes into a thread (as Dan did here) and leaves repeated, irrelevant, harassing or threatening comments, that is trolling. If he had left the same comment repeatedly, even if those comments were not harassing or threatening, that would be considered spamming the thread.
If a person comes into a public conversation and expresses disagreement or disapproval that is related to the topic (which I have done on Dan's posts), that is not trolling. I think some people get confused about the 'pertinent to the topic' part.
*I am not a monitor for Gather, do not know their definitions of these terms, and am not speaking for them.
PFFFT! PFFFT!
Grrrrrrr ! ! ! ! !
PFFT! PFFFT! PFFT!

Ferocious Troll
I don't mean to be contrary, but it's that more flaming than trolling?
Trolling
- and -
Flaming
Huh! Whatdya know...
Flaming is a hostile and insulting interaction between Internet users. Flaming usually occurs in the social context of a discussion board, Internet Relay Chat (IRC) or even through e-mail. An Internet user typically generates a flame response to other posts or users posting on a site, and such a response is usually not constructive, does not clarify a discussion, and does not persuade others. Sometimes, flamers attempt to assert their authority, or establish a position of superiority over other users. Other times, a flamer is simply an individual who believes he or she carries the only valid opinion. This leads him or her to personally attack those who disagree. In some cases, flamers wish to upset and offend other members of the forum, in which case they can be called "trolls".
'Cause I'm down with that.
Adding a link at the bottom of each page so followers can easily jump to the next article or project. We could also add a link to our group and those we interact with.
I think it's a great idea, and don't see a problem with maintaining our own writing projects.
If I understand correctly, that means the comments Dan left here are trolling comments and the ones he removed (in which he only called me disgusting names but made false, extremely inflammatory accusations about others) were flaming and trolling?
No, Sandy. It's HARASSMENT! As an ex Gather guide, he knows that. I'd take those deleted comments and send them to MaryAnne if I were you.
Grrrrrrrr ! ! ! ! ! ! !
My "Grrrrrr"ing is not on topic!
I doubt it...he lasted like all the others...
Sparks I think we all get called trolls.
As for Dan. He has snapped. I think it started when Sandy called him out on the adopt a terrorist program. He took credit for someone elses creativity.
regarding calling someone a child molester online or off to my knowledge is not only against Gather TOS, but is grounds for a libel suit....
"Defamation is written or spoken injury to a person or organization's reputation.
Libel is the written act of defamation."
i hope all of you who are his targets report him to Pam or Mary anne...
cheers,gayle
"it wouldn't hurt to think of words with more then one syllables?"
It also wouldn't hurt to be able to construct a sentence properly. I mean when you are falsely libeling people, you should do it with some degree of literacy.
At this point, and this is a grown man we're talking about, isn't this a little scarey? For him, I mean. I have no idea if he's got family, unfortunately.
I love the idea of having a group for each character.
My eyes are aching. I've never had so much to read on Gather before.
I can't keep up either, and I love it.
(We're going on a field trip tomorrow.)
She should be there in some capacity
GOOD LORD!! She's not driving is she? Those dents in her van make me nervous!
And, thank you for the definition of a troll. It seems there are good trolls and bad trolls. The kind of trolling done by DT in this thread has been inexcusable ~ shame on him for being such a poopoo head (don't want the article flagged for language, and am very proud I didn't have to get out the thesauras for an alternate word) ~
~ Grrrr ~ as said above ~ but back to the writing project.

OK, this isn't done by BB Code (getting blue links in a comment.) How do I do this like normal people? I know there must be instructions, but I can't find them.
I know there was talk of organizing everything together in one place. When I joined your group, for some reason I had thought it was created to contain this body of work as opposed to just your own work. is there one group that nothing but the body of work created by your idea will be a part of? I may be missing this.
Liz R-S: Yes. Because of the size of the project, Sandy created Wee WE group here, solely for this project.
I've yet to learn the ins and outs but I'm psyched.
Please see my post "True Story & Excuseplanation" if you're interested in the reasons why I've been so delinquent here.
It's never too late, Wanda. Please join us.
