I have a lot of time to sit and stare at the tV and things just keep getting more out of line with our past living ways. I constantly hear about all the people out of work and wonder why our government can't are least get them work. My posts played on the simple ways of starting a full nation work project. I don't think when people need help it is time to do deep planning for the future. When I didn't have a job, I would do any work to make me money. Thank God, I had some saved and all bills paid when my company closed it's division in Niagara Falls, NY. My wife and I were able to take a small vacation and relax with no worries while our company sent out resumes by the hundreds and handled all the correspondence. Why aren't the company's at least helping their laid off people more like mine did?
I DON'T WANT OUR PEOPLE TO BE UNEMPLOYED! I THINK THAT IF THEY ARE WILLING TO WORK THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO WORK. IS IT SO HARD FOR OUR GOVERNMENT TO FIND TEMPORARY JOBS FOR EVERYONE SO THINGS CAN START UP AGAIN? MY IDEAS USED SIMPLE JOBS SO WORK COULD BEGIN WITHOUT DELAY. SHOULDN'T THIS BE GOOD ENOUGH TO START OUR WORK PROJECT?
PRESIDENT OBAMA, PLEASE STOP TRYING TO GET 25 JOBS AT A TIME AND LETTING ALL THE REST KEEP HURTING. START WORK PROJECTS TO GET DANGEROUS PEOPLE OFF THE STREETS BEFORE THEY START WANTING TO HURT YOU AND ALL OTHERS IN THEIR WAY.
ALL IT TAKES IS A RAKE OR SHOVEL, AND A PLACE TO CLEAN UP FOR THE CITY OR TOWN SO YOU WILL HAVE AN EXCUSE TO PROVIDE A PAY CHECK SO ALL UNEMPLOYED CAN HOLD THEIR HEADS UP AND PAY BILLS TO KEEP THEIR FAMILIES TOGETHER.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE LAWS ARE ON PRAYING ON GATHER BUT I HAVE TO TAKE A CHANCE. "LORD, I ASK YOU TO ENTER THE HEARTS OF ALL PEOPLE, IN ALL COUNTRIES AND RELIGIONS WHICH ARE IN YOUR SERVICE. ASK THEM ALL TO PRAY FOR A NEW BEGINING WHERE THERE IS NO MORE KILLING, AND PUTTING DOWN OTHERS THAT ARE DIFFERENT, OR LESS ADVANTAGED. WHERE THERE IS NOBLE WORK FOR ALL, IN ALL COUNTRIES, SO THE WORLD WILL BECOME OUR JOB AS CARETAKERS AND REPAIRERS AND SO OUR CHILDREN CAN LIVE IN CONFORT AND PEACE ALL THEIR DAYS." AMEN, AND AMEN.

Yes, if you are bottom of the food chain like Ape, chances are you are going to vote for democrats. It doesn't mean you should feel joy at anybody's misfortune but I guess misery really does love company.
Gordon you have some good points. I too think that anybody who gets a check from government for doing nothing should be forced to work for it. Same with food stamps. A work for food program is definitely a program that we need to implement to get the dead beats off the couch. They might moan and grown about it and file a lawsuit that claims being a couch potato is a constitutional right but once they get hungry enough, they will come around....
Empathy is the capacity to share and understand another's emotion and feelings. It is often characterized as the ability to "put oneself into another's shoes", or in some way experience what the other person is feeling. It is also the ability to understand that many people love to milk a sympathetic system, for everything they can get, for doing absolutely nothing. It doesn't mean I don't care about people who need help. It means I think people who need help can actually help in return. I expect that people who reap the rewards of living in the most compassionate country in the world would feel obligated to give back.
I volunteer for the Wisconsin State Park system and the Madison Arboretum on weekends in the summer. I do it for nothing other than the joy of being outdoors and making one of the most beautiful places on earth better. We are so understaffed because we live in a society where people don't want to lift a finger for anything other than themselves. I can't tell you how helpful a bus load of freeloaders under my command would be to the park system. I truly believe that if I could get some of these leeches out into the forest to do something incredible, it might change their lives for the better. They might actually feel proud of putting effort into something other than securing more foodstamps and welfare checks.
Jeff, I've been arguing the empathy vs sympathy debate for years - empathy is a wondrous, positive thing - sympathy is a useless, negative thing!
My reason for starting a simply program that turns into a training program, than hiring project is to move people from their TV chairs into the open for their good health and well being while they are out of jobs. With all people busy making a pay check, we can reduce crime caused when people lose all worth of themselves and revote.
When I was small the government put in the CCC and other work programs that didn't force people to work hard but did a lot of good for the country and the people that would have become our crime element. Many could lean on their shovels most of the time because many more enjoyed the ability to work again. It all worked out where things got done and people could hold their heads up. By adding a teaching program to this work, people can learn more that will make them enployable. Follow this up with a hiring program to get them back into industry as fast as possible and soon all should be full time productive workers again. Sounds good to me, and with all your help it can become the future start to our work return.
