I know you all think my post is all about wood. Wood was an important item this week and it sure caused some problems that I didn't think would happen now. I'm amazed that some people just don't seem to be able to think, as the clue was clear to me.
The Amazing Race Episode number 2
Order teams left the pit stop:
- Margie & Luke - 2:56 am
- Tammy & Victor - 2:57 am
- Mark & Michael - 2:59 am
- Mel & Mike - 3:18 am
- Amanda & Kris - 3:47 am
- Brad & Victoria - 3:56 am
- Cara & Jaime - 3:59 am
- Kisha & Jen - 4:02 am
- Steve & Linda - 4:04 am
- Christie & Jodi - 4:12 am
Clue: Fly to Munich, Germany. Once they landed, teams drove themselves to the city of Ruhpolding to ride a cable car to the top of a mountain to find their next clue.
Roadblock: It asked teams who was ready to fly like an eagle. After one of them answered, that team member would paraglide down the mountain in tandem with one of the instructors while their partner would take the cable car back down to the designated landing area. Then they could open up the next clue. If there were unsafe wind conditions, teams could choose to wait for the wind conditions to improve or choose a 60 minute hike down the mountain.
The winds weren't safe, so most of the teams left on foot for the 60 minute hike. Clearly, Linda should not have walked, as she ended up getting lost and had to get help. She went up to a stranger and asked if she knew how to get to the cable car place. The lady offered to give her a ride around the mountain to that place. Mel flew like an eagle and it did look like fun and was in 4th place even with the long wait for the wind to be safe.
Clue: Teams had to drive 25 miles to Schonau Am Konigssee to find their next clue.
Detour: In Balancing Dolly, teams had to ride a segueway through a two-mile obstacle course. When they finished, they would receive their next clue. In Austrian Folly, teams had to throw Austrian pies at a target. What the clue did not tell them that the target would be their partner's face. They had to take turns smacking each other in the face until they find a pie with a cherry filling.
I thought this was a lot of fun. and the pie throwing was entertaining and so was the dolly.
Clue: Teams had to make their way on foot to woodcutters where they would get a small piece of cut wood, which would then be stamped with their next clue.
This is the reason its called Got Wood. While Steve & Linda threw pies, the flight attendants were being confused with their clue. They asked someone what one word meant and the local told them it meant to cut wood. I don't know if it was because it was dark outside or if they just couldn't read, but the flight attendants were grabbing some pieces of wood from what looked like a barn and trying to find something to cut it with. Steve & Linda finally found the cherry pie and headed off to the woodcutters while the flight attendants wandered around with their found pieces of wood. They saw the finish line for the obstacle course, but didn't realize it was for that. They thought they were supposed to bring their wood through the finish line so they went wandering around some more. Steve & Linda saw the flight attendants ahead of them but I really hoped they wouldn't follow them or else they would become just as lost.
Clue: Team had to drive to Salzburg, Austria and find Schloss Hellbrunn, which was the pit stop.
Mike & Mel arrived to Schloss Hellbrunn, but couldn't figure out how to get in the courtyard where Phil was located. Phil stood there with his eyebrow raised while Mike tried to see if he could climb the gate. Mike found someone to open the gate.
The order the teams arrived at the pit stop:
- Tammy & Victor
- Mike & Mel
- Amanda & Kris
- Margie & Luke
- Brad & Victoria
- Cara & Jaime
- Kisha & Jen
- Mark & Michael
- Christie & Jodi
- Steve & Linda - eliminated Keep in mind that they would have received a penalty for Linda getting a ride around the mountain, so I think it was over for them with that big disaster by Linda not following the signs.
