Only She Can !!!
An inebriated person is not worried
About consequences of act truthful
Saying age old is woman I uphold
Celebration is an ‘Art of Living’ untold !
She can be the subjugated sex
All her life is of wishful patience
Sense of passionately spirited great
the highest in history of romance and love,
Overrules any so called omen as obstacles
Often discriminated in patriarchal system ..…
She did live-up to be Lover and happily bear
That led by the after-math of ‘Gandharva Vibah’*
For her unconditional absorbing mindfulness
The renowned sage Durbasha cursed Shakuntala* !
Innocently engrossed so in thought of her lover unheard of
Who became husband, the one happen to be lost in the forest
In the wild chase of the hunting game, was King Dushayant,
Had fallen for her chastened beauty and charmed
By her kind and graceful attire-duty, decided to marry
Only by exchange of ring and garlands flowery !!
Promised to return but that was not written
In the face of her unfathomable destiny!
She conceived and duly brought up her son
Bold and holy living single in self-belief only
The faith naturally nurtured to keep her friendly,
Poise and beauty imbibed from the ever-giving inmates
Radiantly flowing green vibes of the Ashram surrounding
With the promising wisdom of the hermitage echoing !!
What else the child growing up with Lion cubs be
Brave and spirited was named Bharat* the name-pride
forwarded on became known for this ancient Land of India !!!
=======================================================
*Gandharva Vibah : ‘Vibah’ means marriage and ‘Gandharva’ is such happening
in love marriage where 'Only' in consent of her(bride's) poise and mutual understanding the beau-groom furthers the intimacy and mate. So almost no witness other than friends and the nature eco-friendly the silent blessed spectator as Gods with their blessings holy takes place.... to justify the marriage and without traditional pomp and show ceremonious taken in consideration
. In ancient days permitted and prevalent mostly because of reverence they had in living high thinking and simple living atmosphere of the hermitage – Ashram.
*Shakuntala, was brought up in the custody of the Maharshi (great-sage) Kanwa
Who had picked up the girl-child protected under the wings of Shakuni (means Vulture)
And adopted to bring her up and named thus Shakuntala !
Actually abandoned by her mother Menaka - the apsara, (beauty immortal, the celestial dancer in the court of gods) who was given the task by the Gods to distract and entice the great (Sage - meditator) saint Viswamitra's concentration, who would be the threat if gained power rule the three worlds by the boon of Brahma-the creator of the Universe by his penance, then the twist in the tale caused to happen ...
*Durbasha : Was well known for his rage, considered as one of the Awtara –
Incarnation of Lord Shiva. He was passing on his ritual way of paying visit (being Holy life as mendicants, the meditators opt for) and ask of their ‘Atithya sewa’ i.e. (as they lived on services - entreaties of the spiritually oriented host residents so) ask for their consent to be regarded to be served as Holy guest so is our culture … which was not heeded by Shakuntala in her intoxicated love marriage she was so engaged in lovely entanglement after her beau-husband, Dushyant left for his Kingdom’s capital, promising to return soon with pomp and show to traditionally take her as his Queen but due to the curse of sage Durbasha forgets her … beautiful tale follows on.
*Dushyant : King who lost his way in the woods while hunting came to enter the
peaceful ashram garden safe, being thirsty to ask for water was lucky and saw Shakuntala the fair maiden, of the enchanted youthful (freshened) forest-garden who was watering the blooming plants ..... and lost his heart to her. Then spellbound couldn’t look away from, off her face while she quenched his thirst, pouring water. So abruptly pleaded of her to oblige offer, directly from the pot she was drenching the plants… realized the strange pang and passion whelm….as the head of the Ashram charge- the guru Rishi Kanwa was absent.... he couldn't get the consent to marry Shakuntala .... and story starts what I stress upon the independence of woman taking her life's decision was given chance to choose her husband ...... !
*Bharat : Shakuntala’s son was just named so, but later he really proved to be great King and ruler of this Land and came to be known by his named denotes pride and richness of lives profound meant upto this modern India .
So is my story of Gandharva Vibah unusual not prevalent now I regret as we don’t have the backing up inmates as those of the Ashram who lead honest and pure lives with faith in morally justified belief –Yoga way of life to survive as if beauty personified !
