A is for Aardvarks....These are very neat animals...and they are not closely related to a pig, like a lot of people thing. Aardvarks are more closely related to elephants and elephant shrews.

One is a female and the other is a male...and no, I didn't know which is which...I think the bigger one might be female, since she was pregnant at the time of the photo.

They do move quite quickly...

And they really like to dig....look at the back claws...

This aardvark was getting sleepy after all the digging.

This is my favorite shot.
The Detroit Zoo's newborn aardvark, Amani (Swahili for "peace"), was born at 1:05 a.m. on December 8 to mother, Rachaael, and father, Mchimbaji. The Zoo is awaiting DNA test results to determine the sex. The 23-inch infant arrived hairless, weighing 3 pounds, 10 ounces, with ears measuring 4 inches. My parents were actually able to see the baby (they know ~people~), and mom said it was so ugly it was cute.
The aardvarks with the baby were not out when I was up in Michigan in December..it was way too cold for the baby...bummer. I did want to see him/her.
