My "emergency fund" - yay!

Due to the scary state of our finances, I've found it VERY difficult to start an "Emergency fund" which I know is very important.  And, not only that but even to set aside any $$ for Birthdays & Christmas. And we are not parents who "overdo" it on gifts either.

So, for less than a year now I've been "snagging" all my rebates, online earnings, research study earnings, etc and kind of "hiding" it. I'm not REALLY hiding it because my husband knows I do this, but he doesn't pay any attention to how much I manage to snag!

Anyway, I counted what I had today and was totally surprised!!!  I have $270 in my secret stash here at home, and then $240 that I transferred from my paypal to a bank account a while back, and just requested another $50+ to transfer from paypal to the bank account! PLUS, all of Christmas was taken out of my "stash."  So, I have $560 saved up!!! Plus I have another $30 in Amazon gift cards I'm building up to use for my kids birthdays in June.

Yippee! I'm so happy!

How wonderful. I know that represents a lot of hard work on your part. It's so tempting to have that money there and use it when you need it.

great job on saving all that money. i wish i could be better in saving money, we hardly get around with our money, so its really really hard to save even a few bucks

Wow, Renita, way to go......I am sooooo proud of you! You are doing just fantastic with all your rebates, surveys, online earnings..........wonderful! Yes, indeed, every bit sure does help! This is why I started my group, norasgreatdeals, to share all the stuff that I know about places to earn money, focus groups, rebating, etc., etc........isn't it fun, though? Even in these tough times, it really is challenging to see how much a person CAN do online! Keep up the great work!!!!!!

I stash or hide my earnings as well. Even though I use my online earnings for a lot of things, I make sure to always have emergency money.

way to go! unfortunately everything I am making online I need...I have a 5% savings plan but that's not really for emergencies...I still need to figure out how to earn enough to actually pay rent and bills and stuff before heading in that direction.

I do that also. But I only wait until I have finished buying all of my birthday presents and start asking for money or gcs for Christmas. My last birthday is in August. I usually have cash for birthday. I go to my daughter's house and help her wash clothes and keep her house clean. I started that with my special needs child but she says now she could do this all herself but she lets me come over and still get paid helping out. So, I can have birthday money.

Good for you! I also stash. My husband always leaves his change laying around, and I put it into a coffee can. After its full, I roll it and save it for a "rainy day"

You are doing great Renita, I keep a gallon pickle jar and everything I save on coupons and such I toss in the jar. Hubby and I's birthdays are 1 week apart so every year it pays for a trip to Las vegas or some other little vacation.
