I was so very suprised last night when I ask my Gather friends to help with a project my daughter and I are doing for kindergarten. The response was unbelieveable!! I am so glad to be part of Gather with all of the wonderful people here!! For all of you who sent me their information, thank you and Stanley will be sent out very soon!! For any of you who got emails from me about this project please send me your information by the end of the day today (Thursday March 5th) I will be sending Stanley out Friday or Saturday!! I cannot wait to get Stanley back from all these wonderful places!! It's such a great opportunity for the children to learn all about the different states and people out there!!

Angele, my daughter met Flat Stanley last year, so I can explain a little about him. Each child in my daughter's class made a guy out of paper, colored it with crayolas, and laminated it. It looks like a paper doll of a boy smiling. It is about 4 inches tall and 6 inches wide. There must be a specific pattern that is used, because I saw one in the newspaper today that looked just like my daughter's. He is smiling because he is getting ready to travel and tell about his adventures. He is "flat", so he can fit in a suitcase, purse, or travel bag. The paperwork that came home with my daughter's Flat Stanley said to send it to somenone you know well, and have them carry it with them wherever they go for awhile-I think it was about a month. The person who receives it is to keep a log of where Flat Stanley went and what he did, and to take pictures of Flat Stanley on his adventures. This is returned to the student by a certain time, who then turns the travel log iand pictures in to the teacher. This gives the kids an opportunity to learn about new places. My daughter sent hers to my sister, who really got into it. She took Flat Stanley to all her local attractions, and sent back some pictures. My sister recently came to visit, and she brought a newspaper clipping about a Flat Stanley who was is on a boat traveling overseas with the daughter of a teacher who is spending a semester abroad. My sister was pleased because she know what Flat Stanley was all about when whe read about him in the newspaper, and she recalled her adventures with him last year. My sister made a photocopy of her Flat Stanley and has it on her bulletin board by her desk. My daugher made a friend for Flat Stanley by tracing around him on a sheet of paper.
