This is a recipe I got from Better Homes and Garden magazine. My husband and I love it.
1 egg lightly beaten
1 cup purchased pasta sauce
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, coarsley chopped
1 lb lean ground beef
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 4oz
Preheat oven to 450. In large bowl combine 1/2 cup pasta sauce, egg, bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons of basil and 1/4 tsp salt. Add the beef and 1/2 cup of the cheese. Mix well. Shape into individual ovals 5 1/2X2 inches. Place on baking pan and spoon on remaining sauce and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake 15 minutes or until internal temp reads 160 degrees.
