Well, they call it summer "festival" activities. But as you may have seen from my previous post, the multi-action lasts 6 weekends, and then some. Many of these events have food vendors. So if you're thinking of a typcial arts & crafts festsival, I have indicated those. Here's a calendar of events for our 2009 season. Many people are surprised to see that Indiana actually does have a beachfront on Lake Michigan.
May 2-3: Coho Club Classic, an entry fee Salmon fishing tournament.
June 13: Poker Run/ party at Washington Park.
June 20: Kiddie Parade
free Perch fishing contest
June 27-28: Free Skamania Trout fishing contest for anyone.
June 27: Mud Bog practice, 28th: Mud Bog vehicle races, Washington Park.
July 4: Pro-Am Beach Volleyball torunament.
July 5: Chalk drawing contest.
The BIG parade downtown.
July 11: 5K run in Washington Park.
July 12: Sand Castle Contest
Fireworks at the lakefront beach, join 30,000+ people.
July 18: Car Cruise to the beach and dance. Usually about 600 cars entered.
July 19: Skateboard compettion.
Aug 1-2: Military History & Vehicle Show, Dunes Plaza
Aug 4: DCI Semifinal competition.
Aug 7-9: Lake Michigan Super Boat Grand Prix
Aug 15-16: Lakefront Art Festival (vendors)
Aug 27-30: In-Water Boat Show, biggest on Lake Michigan.
Sep 4-7: Labor Dayz Festival, Washington Park Beach. (vendors)
Food, fun, crafts, bands, beer tents. Free admission.
Oct 10-11: Oktoberfest, Washington Park. German Food.
