30 days into his tenure as chairman of the RNC, Michael Steele has made so many gaffes that he makes Sarah Palin look like Ayn Rand. While his total capitulation to the extreme right wing of the party, represented by the zeppelinlike personage of a radio talk show host is most notable, his behavior has been so strange that even his supporters are reevaluating his selection.

I have to agree with Jason and Erik, Steele is what many Repubs call a RINO. I'm not sure if he's as bad as Specter or Collins but the difference between him and the Dems isn't enough to excite many who have given up on the party for moving too much to the left as it is.

Extreme right wing? Compared to who,Erik? It seems to me that the RINOS are those in the party who are trying to diminish the contributions of Mr.Steele and Mr. Limbaugh. The main reason that the Republicans are out of power is that they were too busy trying to act like Democrats. It's conservatism that's going to put us back in the driver's seat,and it's Michael and Rush who are leading the way.-Norman

The reasons the Republicans are out of power are myriad, but acting like Democrats is the least of their problems. Acting like teenagers with their parents away and the keys to the liquor cabinet is more like it. Pissing on the Constitution for the last two presidential terms is another.

Letting a drug addled comedian lead their party is symptomatic of why they're out of power. Limbaugh may help to energize the base, but the base doesn't reflect the changing realities of America, and the divisive, abusive, unpatriotic rantings of the gasbag doesn't convert anyone to your cause.
