HELP....What is twitter?

Twitter is a website. I signed up on it last week but I'm not exactly sure of the specifics other than its a networking site of sorts. I haven't messed with it much since I signed up.

It's a website where you can share things you find interesting. If you look at the bookmark pop up right here on your article, twitter is an option.

I love tweeting! Basically it is another way to network.

Never heard of it until now.

I am on Twitter to share my Associated Content articles. AC is how I learned about it. Sometimes I twitter my gather articles too. I love saying it, it just sounds so funny! Sometimes I Digg as well as Twitter! LOL

I love Twitter! It's so much fun. I use it to just jot random thoughts down as they come to me when I don't want to spend the time writing a full article or journal entry. I often update from my phone via text message so that way I can put thoughts up when I'm out and about.

140 characters to update your status. That's it. You can follow other people's updates...and they can follow yours. You also can follow news sources and businesses. I find it rather shallow...140 characters at a time.
Facebook is more worthwhile to stay in touch with OLD friends.

I like Twitter much more than Facebook ! I twitter ( tweet) with fellow food bloggers all over the world, and it's great! I don't use it for friends/family - just food bloggers.

Its actually much more that what I just read. I use it more to get info, and follow my favorite websites: SPIN, Rollingstone, Obama, Newsweek send out tweets on all the new articles ... this way I get all the news right to me, instead of searching for it.

Twitter is a website that allows your friends and family members to keep track of every little thing you do (should you choose to submit them to Twitter). For example, if you wanted to tell your friends that you were working on a small art project, you could send something called a 'Tweet' (to your Twitter account) and it'll post it to every follower you have. Followers are people who are your friends or people who are interested in every small thing you do.

It's quite hard to explain in words, so it's best if you just went on the site (http://twitter.com/).

Twitter is, like everyone has said, to post 140 character "status updates" to your friends/family. It is addicting lol. You connect with people you know, and also, like Gather, make friends/"followers" with new people whom you find interesting and want to receive their "tweets". There is a new influx recently of celebs posting on Twitter, too..Ashton Kutcher is #1, Demi Moore, Sarah Gilbert, Alyssa Milano, John Mayer, Miley Cyrus, Joan Lundon, Melissa Gilbert, Soleil Moon Frye, Ryan Seacrest, Paula Abdul, Nicole Richie..to name just a few..all very active tweeters..as well as Suze Ormon who gives out free advice every day to questions for her "followers".. So if you're a rabid fan of some actor/band/musician/etc, you can "follow" them and get the low-down on their lives day to day. Also, any TV program, website, etc you enjoy, chances are they have a twitter page, or will be soon. It's busting out all over. time sucking void?? yeah, but so is Gather LOL Even if you don't want to follow a bunch of people, it is a good idea for Gather members to join and try to get followers there, because you can post your Gather article links there and tweets are Google searchable....could lead to more traffic = more $$$$$

..oh..the only thing that sucks, is the internet marketers/spammers have also found twitter and will likely try to start following you/get you to follow them..to build their "lists"..but you can choose to have to allow people to follow you first/approve them..then you'll only be followed by people you want to be linked with.

I use Twitter to broadcast my works and sites. It's great just to update periodically to get your stuff out there in case anyone searches, they might come up with your info.
