Tonight, we had to go into Lansing to buy the new car. We had to do a few other things while we were there, so it was late by the time we got back. While in Lansing, we'd stopped by the local PetSmart, but did not find what we wanted- a nice covered cat litter box.
A few months back, I splurged on one, and love it, but we needed another. The ones at PetSmart were higher priced, and looked cheap, and only some had doors on them. We decided to stop at the small pet shop here in town when we came back in, because that shop is where we found the first one.
When we walked in, we fell in love with the cutest little black kitten. She has a single white splotch under her neck, but is otherwise completely black, right down to her nose, feet pads, and whiskers. i fell in love. Nick fell in love. We came home with a new kitten tonight.
She is 4 months old, up to date on her shots, but does need to be spayed. I'll be making an appointment in the morning for her, and an appointment for the other three to get their nails trimmed, and looked over.
With our first three cats, we named them specifically for characters Nick and I use on a game we play. The three names are three siblings- Rajik, Kirese, and Aliex. The characters are from a family where a trait is having a full head of black hair with a white streak. The character's family name is "Silvercrest".
Anyway, long winded story now told, we've dubbed this little princess "Giaa", who is another Silvercrest. This one is the niece of the other three Silvercrests. It was just too perfect, though- black with a small white patch.
Right from the moment I picked her up, she snuggled up, laid her head on my shoulder, and just laid there, content to be held and petted. She didn't try to get away, or claw, or hiss at me, or at Gillian. She just wanted to be loved!
The cats are not loving the new comer, but we're taking precautions to make sure they all get along as well as can be. There has been a lot of sniffing, smelling, following, growling, and hissing, but no fights, and we are holding them separate from one another. We're letting them all just get each others scents for now.
Tonight, she'll sleep in with us, so that she's not around the other cats for now. It was a very spur of the moment decision, but oh, she was just too precious!

My husband appreciated the fact that there are people out there as spontanious as he and I are. We almost bought home a kitten last year, but the condo board in AZ didn't approve it. Good thing, since it would have been harder to get her up here when he came to Canada.
I've tried finding a nice one at places like Walmart, but they are all either too small, or flimsy. This is the only one I've found that I've liked. The door is free hanging, so that it easily pushes both in and out. :)
7 cats and they get along okay. Well the last couple month every now and then Fat Patches has been slapppin up Blaze.Don't know why, the Samson and Simba get into it with Fat Patches too. Scare me sometimes, more so when they are on the back of the couch behind my head. ha ha ha We haven;t been to Lansing in several weeks, usually go to the Goodwill Emporium (sp) by the Meijer Store. HAVE FUN WITH YOUR NEW KITTEN.
