Barack 'All-In' Obama

If he was really gutsy, he would have stuck with his campaign "promise" to start leaving Iraq, like now, one brigade a month, instead of kicking the can down the road and playing games about what is a combat troop and what is not. I suppose the 50,000 to stay there until the end of 2011 are all cooks. If I wanted Bush policy, I would have voted for McCain.

C'mon Julia...he's being responsible here. He's spoken to his military advisers and this is what he's believes is the best approach to ending the Iraq disaster. Obama has always said that he'd end the war as responsibly (or something to that effect) as they were careless in starting it.

Is that not the type of thinking you'd want to see from a president?

Gutsy doesn't mean stupid. I'd rather see a gradual withdrawal that keeps us out of there than a hasty one that lures us back.

The Iraq war is stupid. Staying in until the Pentagon declares Iraq stable is stupid. War President is not the type of thinking I want to see in a president. Especially stupid war president. Just because Obama is serving kool-aid this time doesn't mean it's not kool-aid. If Bush announced this plan, you both would be up in arms. Obama campaigned saying out in sixteen months, one brigade a month.

That has morphed into not even trying to leave for at least a calendar year, "combat troops" whatever the hell that means, out in nineteen months and 50,000 left for 36 months. I suppose those people left are going to be unarmed cooks. And I'll believe that when I see it. Crystal ball time, guess what, we'll re-assess and it won't be safe in nineteen months to leave the unarmed cooks there to fend for themselves without more "combat troops" than originally projected.

How old are you two? Don't you remember anything about Lyndon Johnson's grand domestic plans which could not be financed because of his stupid war?

All Obama has done is talk. He bought more time, kicked the can down the road. Meanwhile, the number of troops still in Irag are post surge numbers. If the surge were the success it is billed as, we'd be standing down. Instead, we are staying the course. And then some.

And please, who are his military adivisors? Bush's military advisors. It's not like this withdrawal, not, plan is a surprise to anyone coming from Gates and Petreaus. Wake me up when that gradual withdrawal actually starts happening.

Yeah well he used to believe he had the best hand but the fact that Wall Street has rejected all of his weird spending binges and policies, I think he is a deer in the headlights right about now. It's strange listening to liberal investors trying to say something good about Obamanomics but can't. It used to be hard to get those guys to shut up.

The best analogy I have heard so far is where an economist said that Obama reminded him of a time he was at a bar after a long day and saw a bunch of drunk college kids playing darts. They were throwing a whole handful of darts all at once trying to see if they could get at least one dart to hit the bulls-eye. In short, the Obama administration's economic team is a bunch of drunks playing darts! That's is definitely change but I don't think it's the change people hoped for.

That's brilliant, Jeff. You no doubt expected Obama to cure all of the countries financial ills in 6 weeks, right?

It's going to take a year or more before we can hope to see real improvement in the economy. Get real, buddy.

Bravo to a great common sense reality posting!!!! I find it absurd that anyone can expect all the cures from any one person to happen in a few weeks when it took 7+ years to put in place. Sometimes after reading some of the postings here, I think to myself...Jesus Christ is the only one I know of, right now, who can create miracles....

Obama is a politician plain and simple, he promised what he needed to to get into office, now he is doing what he wants to do and in a couple/three years he will be doing what will get him re-elected.

But there is hope!

the stimulus bill will not, and a lot of the hemorrhaging (spending) isn't due to start until after 2010, we can elect enough conservatives in the next election to stop the hemorrhaging and inact some real relief.

Actually it's obviously going to take 4 years and another election before things change. It's going to be fun to watch Obama go the way of Carter......
