Found Money '09

As some of you know, I like to keep tack of, and save money in various ways that I find fun.  One of these ways is the, "FOUND MONEY, jar I keep.

I save this money seperate in a jar marked, "Found Money".  To be sure, people are holding on to their money during the poor economy, as is evident by my monthly totals in my found money jar. 

Las year, I was averaging a find of about $15.00 a month.  Not this year.

   Jan.'09= $3.50

   Feb. '09= $2.92,

                 -----------

                    $6.42     You can see the difference, so far, but it's a good thing more people are paying attention, more closely, to their money.

Even though the amount of the money I find has dwindled I am still finding that I am saving, fairly easily, a minimum of $25.00, and maximum of $60.00 weekly.  This is actual money in my hot little hands.  Little adjustments, here and there has made a big difference.

Good for you! When my son was a teen, I noticed that at fast food joints and outside the mall, there was always loose change on the ground. I mentioned it to him and he told me that kids hate having pocket change, so they throw it on the ground after they're done shopping. I was a single mom, and he never minded that I picked up the money and saved it for eating out or other special things. But I had to promise not to pick it up when he was with me. :)

that's a great idea and a good lesson to all the kids that are throwing away their change (better not be one of my kids!)

I don't find nearly that much change, but the little that I do find(about $3 a month) goes into my massive change jar with the rest of my change. I only roll and deposit the coins about twice a year, but it's about $300 each time. That's a lot of change to have someone else just be throwing away.

It's probably because I work where a lot of money is being exchanged. A grocery store.

Yes, Alexis. Saving that change really adds up. I have $980.00 in rolled change. I'm not cashing it in, though.

Here's a great thing to saving change, as well. This year, 3 of the quarters, and 6 of the dimes are real silver. So remember to check before you just roll the chnage and cash it in.

great job! I never thought about separating it. Any "found" or online "earnings" do get separated from regular funds but I don't necessary track what comes from where

I find a little but I go through all od my chance and I have found alot of silver and wheat pennies this year.
If you put just quarters in a quart jar it will hold $400.00,I don't know how many dimes but when it gets full I'll let you know.

Wow. I never find money. Well, I did find a 10$ bill outside the bank window when making a night deposit last month. That was fun and no way of knowing who it belonged to.
I've also found 2 billfolds with quite a bit of money in it. One had ID. The other didn't. I called and left my name at the store but no one called for it and there was 60$ inside.

Just about the time I decided it was mine to keep I went through it one more time. Nope. nothing to ID the person. Then the bill of sale slip happened to be lying face down & to my surprise the machine had printed address and phone number on back of the slip. I called & she was thrilled. Split reaction from me. Yaaaa, that was fun. RATS! It was almost mine :)
