"When you arise in the morning
Give thanks for the morning light.
Give thanks for your life and strength.
Give thanks for your food,
And give thanks for the joy of living.
And if perchance you see no reason for
giving thanks,
Rest assured the fault is in yourself."
Native American Saying

Greetings Sistahs Shed:
Those of you who have followed all the steps are the pioneers of Shedding Light. It is a hard discipline to find the balance of mind, body and spirit. We have a tendency not to connect one with the other. Believe me, everything is connected. The body responds to the mind and spirit. These steps were meant for you to get to know yourself and take a good look at that self. It's easy to lose oneself but a hard task to find "us" again. Once we do, we feel good. We feel alive.
You've done a great job hanging on this far. We are now working on Step 8. I want to remind you that your health is your wealth. You have to make your health your priority. This doesn't mean having to buy expensive gym equipment or expensive foods. I preach basics - basics - basics. Eat simply, walk, walk, walk. Drink lots of water. Stretch. Move! Lift water containers if you don't have weights. Make soaking in a tub a joy - a place to meditate and let your troubles go down the drain. Find a quiet place inside of yourself to be for a few minutes a day. Whatever work you do, do it with love and enthusiasm. In time, if you're grateful, then things will improve.
Today is Tuesday and it's the day that I want to read about your updates. Feel free to post daily updates if you wish! What is going on in your world? Also, since our quest was to lose ten pounds, if you want to tell us the number go ahead. I have lost five wonderful pounds. Find five cans of beans and you'll see how many pounds that looks like!
I found a great Web site and I would like for you to go there and start getting the newsletter. As with anything, take what you need and enjoy the recipes:
You can find it at www.whfoods.org
I hope that you continue with us for the next two and a half weeks. At that time, only a few will be moving on and we'll have some new people coming on board. At this time, I would like feedback. Feel free to ping or message me at any time. Thank you for being you! Salud

I found it to be a wonderful way to make myself feel good about what I was doing for myself.
"For things to change, first you have to change."
I believe I've lost four pounds so far.
Thanks Richard - I liked it as well. I always save quotes that inspire me.
Monica - bless your heart - you're one of our best supporters. I hope you join the next wave.
David, I totally agree - Gandhi says "Be the change you want to see in the world." I have tried to follow that advice!
Thank you Dorine - it came with mixed blessings - first, I have lost five pounds by not drinking wine - that's right - but you see I believe that wine is good for you. It helps distribute the calcium...and I can feel those bones once in a while - I am eating frozen grapes but you know I love my wine!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss!
RE: Step 8 You don't need to write to another person - you can write to yourself and talk about the seeds you've planted in your own garden - a metaphor for yourself. Think back to the very first Shedding Light self and the second one as well. Look at the chart again -I hope you think about Step 8 and do it - I sure want you to be one of the ones moving on to spring session!
thanks Lynn - keep on following along - you're doing great. Everyone is wonderful - thanks. Salud
Congratulations on your weight loss.
I will be using quotes from all walks of life, religions, people who are upbeat and enthusiastic and motivational.
Stacey. Water is the healer. Look at a sick animal. They eat very little but drink lots of water - they eat grass - they stretch - the sleep and they find the morning sun. It is a basic survival tool - to stay with the basics - there is nothing out there that is magical - but finding what works for each person's constitution is key. The posts are to discipline the mind - so as we do that, the body follows and the spirit is stronger and enlightened. You will probably gain five pounds or not that many. I am curious if you ate anything in particular that may have triggered the E.B. Because this time of the year, the body will begin preparing for the spring and many times, our immune systems will take a little dive as the body prepares itself for another season. I would suggest that you find the adrenal gland reflexology point on your foot and rub that - it's very important to keep the adrenals healthy - particularly at this time in your life if you're going through the change - if you can't find it anywhere - let me know and I'll scan a chart for you!
I am so glad you are better and when your body is purer then you will notice what sets you off right away. I haven't had wine but I realize that I do need wine. I have a few aches I didn't have and realize that wine helps the body absorb calcium. Anyway, I have lost 5 pounds - and that is staying off - I like seeing a bit of a waist again!!! Salud
Miniature moments
I'll be doing updates and step 8 (I was out with an infection and I'm just now getting back on track).
Thank you for sharing that quote.
It was perfect for starting out my day today.
Hugs and blessings - salud - S.
Gave you a ten
Wish I could come back
And do it again.
Sounds like a plan to me. In two weeks you are going to take "newbies" on board?
I also like the quote in David W's comment, worth repeating:
"For things to change, first you have to change."
Jim Rohn
I'm feelin some changes coming on!
Before having left the homestead, the PT agreed with me that five pounds of weight is an additional 25lbs of pressure on the knees and other joints. Good for you dauntless leader of shedding light.
Your article is as fine as your photo, which is wonderful!
Ade
(she's reminded to drink water, water, water and may even surprise herself and do it!)
love hearing from you - hope Mother is hanging in there valiently! Salud
