After you have created and started adding content to your group, you’ll want to get the word out to potential visitors to start growing your readership. One important step is launching a member recruitment initiative to aks people you know or who may be interested to join your group. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Use the “invite to group” link on your group homepage to send group invitations. With this tool, you can invite others who are currently your friends on Gather, search for Gather members with interests that are aligned with your group theme, or invite your personal contacts by uploading their email addresses fro your email address books. If searching member interests, try entering the primary keyword for your group and a few secondary keywords to find users who may be interested.
- Search for groups on Gather about similar topics. Members of those groups may be people you want to invite to your new group.
- Look on bulletin boards about your group’s topic. If the bulleting board allows, add posts to tell visitors to check out your group or blog. Be careful to do this without spamming.
Note that this step can be done concurrently with Group Link Building.

The only caution I would relay however is to be careful when reaching out to members of other similar groups. This can be viewed by other group owners/moderators as 'picking their bones' and has in the past incited unhealthy competition and animosity in the community.
You say I can get more members to invite them with invite to group.
I had to make the group from private to public and there is not invite to group button I feel dumb about this how do I get one??
