After you define the master keyword list, you’ll want to seed the group with relevant content. This is an important step to ensure that your group contains content that will be spidered by search engines. The content will also help to convey the primary focus of the group to visitors and, potentially, contributors.
Based on your master keyword list, create a content plan based on the your keyword rankings. Select words with a higher rank to include in your first group content contributions, then develop several content items using the top five to six keywords on your master keyword list.
For example, if you are starting a group about gardening, you may have these top keywords on your master keyword list:
- outdoor gardening
- planting a flower garden
- basic vegetable gardening
- growing flowers
- starting a vegetable garden
- flower bed preparation
You would want to use each of these keywords in a separate post. Also, be sure to create your content by following search-friendly writing practices. You can find instructions in this article: Search Friendly Writing, Get Noticed in 4 Easy Steps.

This becomes very difficult on Gather if the group owner allows the entire community to publish content to the group and isn't diligent about screening that content for relevancy. Group owners can quickly eradicate any penetration and ranking gained outside of Gather if they do not tightly control events that take place following the initial 'seeding' of content.
