As of 8 AM it looks as though a little under 6" fell in Wading River, although with the winds some might have already blown away. The winter storm warning is in effect until 6 PM EST this evening. Today's forecast calls for more and more snow:
Snow this morning...then snow likely this afternoon. Snow may be heavy at times this morning. Areas of blowing snow. Total snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches. Windy. Near steady temperature in the upper 20s. North winds 20 to 30 mph. Gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of snow near 100 percent.
Freezing temperatures will keep this snow until the next minor snow storm next weekend. This is clearly great news for kids. It sort of makes me wish I was a kid again. I'll probably work from home today. Fortunately, even a bad day at work is better than a full day of studying in school (or is that my faulty memory at work again).
