Rush Limbaugh at CPAC, Plus Dick Morris Says, "It's Obama Spreading Panic"

March 01, 2009 10:09 PM EST (Updated: March 01, 2009 10:24 PM EST)

I was proud of what I heard of Rush Limbaugh's speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.  I was also proud of Fox for covering the entire speech.  I think it's particularly important that we let our President know that we do intend to listen to coservative talk show hosts.

If you're not usually inclined to listen to Rush, I hope you'll listen to at least part of his speech.  It's posted at YouTube in eleven parts.

You can forego the early part and start the video in the middle.  Limbaugh, knowing that he's being covered on Fox and on other news shows, acknowledges that many people have probably never heard his show.  He acknowledges that people have impressions about him and about conservatives that might be wrong, because the media and liberal politicians purposely misinform people about what a conservative is all about.

Then he explains a bit about conservatives:

That...

  • We love people.
  • We love all Americans, regardless of their race or religion.
  • We don't see groups.  We see individuals.  We see potential.
  • We don't see people with contempt.  We think that all persons have the potential to be what he or she is meant to be if certain things are removed from his/her path - like too much taxes, too many regulations and too much government.
  • We want every American to be the best that he or she chooses to be.
  • We realize that we are all individuals.
  • We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and Declaration of Independence.  We take the Preamble seriously - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  And we conservatives think these are under assault.

I think he did a good job explaining about conservatives.

 Part 1

In part 2, Rush continues about conservatives:

  • We don’t want to tell anyone how to live.
  • We resist the effort to group us and to think that we’re all the same as anybody else.
  • We acknowledge that we are created equal, but we also realize that the effort we put into life affects the outcome.
  • We’re not racists. Racism was fully evident in the Democratic party last year. The racism and sexism that we conservatives are accused of doesn’t exist.
  • We want everyone to succeed and always have.
  • We want the country to succeed. And for that to happen, every person needs to be pursuing success.
  • We don’t tell people – like the Democratic Party does – that you cannot succeed because you’re a minority or because you’re a woman. We don’t say that. The Democratic Party is the one that discriminates against people. They say, “You need to depend on us. You cannot succeed.” Take a look at the constituency groups that have been depending on the Democratic Party to improve their lot for the past 50 years, and you tell me if you find any. They’re still complaining. They’re still griping. Their problems don’t get fixed by government. And those lives have been poisoned and cut short by false promises by the Democrats who said, “Don’t worry about it. We’ll take care of you. Just vote for us.”

Rush then explained that he wants everyone in the United States to succeed, anyone who believes in the founding documents and in life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And he wants any organization or government that wants to keep you from succeeding to fail.

At the end of part 2, Rush said, "President Obama is one of the most gifted men that I have ever witnessed.  He has communications skills that hardly anyone can surpass.  It just breaks my heart that he does not use his extraordinary talents and skills to motivate and inspire the American people to be the best they can be.  He's doing just the opposite and it's such a shame."

Dick Morris expressed the same thoughts in an article on TheHill.com on February 24, 2009.

Morris said, "Ultimately, all recessions and depressions resolve themselves into crises of confidence. The instant, global, 24/7 communications of today make them ever more so. President Obama, in his pursuit of liberal big-government spending, has totally neglected the role of the president of the United States in reversing global panic. To the contrary, his every remark and the constant preoccupation of his Cabinet is to heighten the sense of crisis and to escalate the predictions of doom if we do not do as they tell us and raise spending now and taxes later."

Later in the article, Dick Morris added, "In addressing this panic, the president of the United States must truly be the leader of the world - showing the way back to confidence.

Instead, Obama has been instrumental in purveying fear and spreading doubt. It is his pronouncements, reinforced by the developments they kindle and catalyze, that are destroying good businesses, bankrupting responsible people and wiping out even conservative financial institutions. Every time he speaks, he sends the markets down and stocks crashing. He doesn't seem to realize that the rest of the world takes its cue from him. He forgets that he stands at the epicenter of power, not on the fringes campaigning for office. This ain't Iowa.

Why does Obama preach gloom and doom? Because he is so anxious to cram through every last spending bill, tax increase on the so-called rich, new government regulation, and expansion of healthcare entitlement that he must preserve the atmosphere of crisis as a political necessity. Only by keeping us in a state of panic can he induce us to vote for trillion-dollar deficits and spending packages that send our national debt soaring."

And Morris ended with these words, "So, having inherited a recession, his words are creating a depression. He entered office amid a disaster and he is transforming it into a catastrophe, all to pass every last bit of government spending and move us a bit further to the left before his political capital dwindles.

But the jig will be up soon. The crash of the stock market in the days since he took power (indeed, from the moment he won the election) can increasingly be attributed to his own failure to lead us in the right direction, his failed policies in addressing the recession and his own spreading of panic and fear. The market collapse makes it evident that it is Obama who is the problem, where he should, instead, be the solution."

To read all of the article, click here: It's Obama Spreading Panic

To see the rest of Rush Limbaugh's speech, look for parts 3-11 at YouTube.

President Obama talked about hope when he was running for office, but he offers no hope at all.

Conservatives offer hope.  They know that our country is great because its people are great.  And conservatives realize how important it is that we encourage each other, not discourage.

Marilyn, I am surprised you liked this speech. Most Republicans who were there were embarassed at the rambling Rush did at this event. Republican leaders are afraid that Rush will push the party too far the the end of reasonableness. He is bent on making the GOP a fringe party by hoping that the president fails to turn the economy around. How sad it is for a rich talk show host to sit back and watch middle and lower income Americans suffer for the sake of political power. We surely have our priorities mixed up of late.

You realize the Obama administration is currently setting Rush up to be the strawman. They can't move forward with any version of the Fairness Doctrine yet they haven't given up.

I can can certainly understand why liberals don't like Rush. Can you guess? He's conservative! Yes, he speaks his mind, yes there is entertainment, but yes there are a lot of accurate observations. I guess liberals view Rush the same way I view Good Morning, America every morning. They are clearly left biased and there is a lot of entertainment.

Great article, Marilyn.

Michael, it was hard to see or hear anyone who was embarassed when I was watching it live. People were reacting positively. Perhaps it's the same as when Governor Jindal spoke last week. Most regular conservatives loved him. It was the media and New Englander types who did not.

I watched it on CNN. I was able to tell my wife where he distorted facts and told outright shameful lies. I think Limbaugh has about as much honor as a well used outhouse. I don't trust people who twist things. He is a disgrace to our flag.

Michael, I can't see how you can claim, "Most Republicans who were there were embarrassed at the rambling Rush did at this event." It was clear to me watching the speech that they were wildly applauding the whole time. I know I (who was not a listener or Rush) was deeply impressed by his comments. This Republican approved 100%.

William, I just posted about people like you a few minutes ago. Apparently those whom you disagree with "distort facts" and are outright liars. Those who slander without evidence the good name of others are a "disgrace to the flag!" If you want to see the disgrace to the flag, look in a mirror!

So much adoration and not one word about how Rush 'overcame' his demons of drug abuse, his need to take Viagra along on a solo vacation, invented new and exciting ways to insult women by outing Daryn Kagan by referring to her as his 'MISTRESS' on National TV, coined the term FemiNazi.
He is a proven farce............a fat, sweaty, self aggrandizing blowhard and as such.....fits right into the smoking rubble of a once respectable American Institution.
That you find yourself PROUD of that is a mind warp of thundering proportions!

Again, I'll ask you, APE. Did you watch the video or read any of the words posted above? He did a great job of explaining what a conservative is and believes and wants.

And did you read the words of Dick Morris as well? Just wondering...since you didn't comment on them.

Watched the whole show on CNN. He's great entertainment for a little while, but, as is his way, he hogged,...I mean....ran over his alotted time by an hour. But that's o.k., it's all fun and games to him, anyway.

He'd loves, loves, loves to milk the cow for every drop it's worth$$$$ to him. That is his job, after all. To put on a good show.

On the other guy? Not too familiar with him, but for some reason, I don't feel this panic he thinks Obama is dishing out. Now, I do understand why he, himself, may be all panicky. He, and all the other Carl Rovian species have been squacking, and flapping their wings like they were Sarah Palin's Turkey dinner ever since...ever since...hmm...ever since THEY LOST!!!

Dick Morris was an adviser to the Bill Clinton administration after Clinton was elected president in 1992, Dorothy. He predicted very early on that Obama would win the presidency. He's been involved in politics for a long time. And he seems to be a very smart guy since now he's a harsh critic of the CLintons.

Things were bad but it seems they've gotten a whole lot worse since Obama got elected.

Marilyn, I know that Ann Coulter also gave a speech. I wonder if it's on YouTube because I'd like to hear it in it's entirety. I only heard a small part of it and at one point she got a thunderous applause. But the reporter was talking over her, darn it! So I don't know what she said.

Just the fact that the liberals hate Limbaugh so much makes me halfway WANT to listen to him. lol

Marilyn, I'm sorry I missed the first part of the speech, very glad to have a link to the full speech, thank you so much!

Basing this comment on what I've already seen Rush hit one out of the ball park, I really wished I could have viewed the whole conference with all the speakers. I don't get to hear Rush all that much, I'm hoping he goes back on TV as he did while Clinton was in office. I personally believe that he held Clinton's feet to the fire, Obama needs this more so then old Bill ever did.

As for those of you who didn't get it, well I guess the whole speech was like little knives poking in your poor little ears, I bet most of you couldn't even set through the whole speech, I've got this to say join the club, Obama has that same effect on me but I also get ill as well hearing all that bull coming from only one source, I must confess that the only other way to see anymore at one time I have to go down to the local water treatment plaint.

Politicians and entertainers share many things in common. The biggest thing they share in common is jumping on and off of bandwagons. Right now the bandwagon that is in vogue is the " I love and respect everybody" one.
Less than a year ago, conservatives hated liberals and liberals hated conservatives. Now all of a sudden everybody loves everybody with no mention of what went before.
Both politicians and entertainers should be tolerated not adored or worshiped. The reason for that is that they change their persona at the drop of a hat. If nothing else, this proves that they are followers, not leaders.

Reagan's landslide win over Carter came from an election whereby only 20% of the votong population, even participated.

I didn't vote for Clinton, either time, so if your anyone thinks their cheap shots at liberals hurts my feelings, think again. However; I do remember that during the Clinton era, I did very well financially.

Chris W asked why not hear from someone actually elected to office. That's the difference between liberals and conservatives. With conservatives, the message belongs to us all and we don't need a government employee to speak for us. Or to "do for us". We don't rely on the government to fix things, but on people.

It's amazing that liberals merely want to attack the individual, but never want to adress what was said. Rush explained conservatives quite well. That's who we are and what we want and believe. You would think the opposition would want to know that.

I found Rush on my AM dial about 10 PM one night back in 1990. And I thought "wow, a Republican talking head dumb enough to say what Republicans actually think. Up until then Republicans were smart enough to NOT do things like; Call leaders of the Women's Movement "Feminazi's." Or say things like; "AIDS is God's punishment for gay men." I remember saying way back then. If this guy ever gets really famous, he'll bring the Republican Party down." And sure as shit here we are. Not only did Rush get famous, he is now considered by many to be the defacto leader of that political Party. And at a time when the Republican Party is at it's all time low in popularity. Hmmmm, anyone besides me see a connection?

By revealing the Republican Party for what it really is, Rush Limbaugh has almost single handedly reduced the once Grand Ol'e Party to a punch line on Saturday Night.

Al Franken was right, Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot.

Marcus, there are many Americans who become addicted to prescription drugs. As one who has a chronic illness myself, I have to watch that very thing.

But...if you want to talk about the illegal drugs that our President admits to taking....?

Shall we hold that against either man forever? If so, which do you really think is worse? To me, it's the illegal drugs.

That explains the GOP liplock on Hillary...

"We think that all persons have the potential to be what he or she is meant to be if certain things are removed from his/her path"
Seriously? Meant to be?? Thank you Jesus! :o)

"...like too much taxes, too many regulations and too much government."
Ideally, we could eliminate all taxes, all government and all regulations and just see who has the biggest guns!

"We want every American to be the best that he or she chooses to be."
...And already believe homeless vets CHOOSE to be homeless.

"We realize that we are all individuals."
...Except some of us are GOOD, wealthy individuals and some of us give a damn about the poor and the homeless.

"We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and Declaration of Independence."
...As decorations.

"We take the Preamble seriously - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
Do you think the windbag knows that 'life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness' aren't even IN the preamble at all? ...and he'd say to HELL with providing for the common welfare which IS in the preamble. HAHAHAhahahaaa!

"And we conservatives think these are under assault."
From idiotic know-nothings who are having foot stamping tatrums from getting their asses handed to them in the last election.

Rush Limbaugh vs. Barack Hussein Obama, president of the united states fears a radio jock. Rush take it easy on your inferior opposition. Barack can not handle your conservative intellect you must be silenced by the liberal cowards.
I wish you could have a debate with the Magnanimous merciful leader General Obama, only rule- no TelePrompTers- we need to hear the brilliant Obama use all those-um-um-ah-ah-o-o-i-i, mean?. To all liberals- Rush was not speaking to Republicans- he was giving a speech to Conservatives. The last time a true Conservative ran for President, that great man won by 48 states. To hell with liberal republicans they are being tossed overboard. A liberal republican lost to General Obama, this time a conservative will be his opponent.

Ben, have you read any of the spending bill? Have you listened to what is in store for healthcare, for instance?

Did you hear that Obama himself said he wants our children from preschool to college? For what? Indoctrination, of course. And forced vaccinations even though they're not safe. And forced medications for ADHD, even though the kids haven't been properly diagnosed.

He wants to give money to the states with strings attached that make the state laws change permanently. Doesn't that affect us all?

But then again, what do you expect from a party that condoned Clinton's secual antics in the White House and has forgotten all too quickly about his reefer lies!

Marylin, you are wasting your breath trying to reason with some of the left wing nuts on this post. They are just like Rihanna. She gets the crap beaten out of her and she still gets back together with Chris Brown because she is "loves" him. These people don't care how badly Obama is going to screw them. They are too weak and simple minded to stand up for themselves. They will keep going back for more as long as he tells them he will love and protect them. It's pathetic.

Rush and Dick, two noteworthy sources! I'm trying to find a poll I saw last week that showed, by a margin of three to one, that the public does NOT think Obama is using fear tactics. I will post a link if I can find it.

Limbaugh is on record (on at least two different occasions) as saying that he wants President Obama to fail. In these statements, he is particularly referring to the stimulus package. Doesn't he know that if the attempt to stimulate the economy fails, we'll have a meltdown that makes the Great Depression look like a Sunday picnic?

Yeah, you "we love everybody" conservatives, you love everybody all right. You just have a really peculiar way of showing it. You love gays, but don't want to accord them the same rights as straits have. You love the Constitution, but are perfectly willing to have (everyone else's) Constitutional rights abridged or taken away entirely in return for the illusion of "safety". You love God, but are unwilling to follow the precept of "do unto others what you want others to do to you".

Oh, yeah, and when you get caught with your hand in the proverbial cookie jar (or when your rhetoric fails a road test), you always blame the "liberals".

//If Republicans think that it’s ok for executives to cash out while they suffer, then Republicans are as misguided as Democrats who say that the government is the answer to all of this country’s woes.// Like all generalizations, the last half of that sentence isn't true. Democrats think that big problems (like the lack of affodable health care and building roads, bridges and other infrastructure) cannot be addressed at an individual level. Republicans, on the other hand, want all the perks of civilization (including the ability to amass obscene amounts of wealth from others' labor) while paying absolutely nothing for the privelege. Democrats think the big problems should be tackled. Republicans would rather not tackle anything (except the search for larger amounts of money) and then blame the Democrats when society falls apart from their inattention.

We love people.
Unless you are a Muslim...or have a Muslim name. In which case we might love you, but we don't trust you.

We love all Americans, regardless of their race or religion.
So long as the "race" is White and the "religion" is Christian

We don't see groups. We see individuals. We see potential.
Except for those liberals, fasists, commies, and lefties. We see those groups just fine.

We don't see people with contempt.
Unless you are gay. IN which case you are an unnatural freak trying to destroy marriage and all that is good and just in America.

We think that all persons have the potential to be what he or she is meant to be if certain things are removed from his/her path - like too much taxes, too many regulations and too much government.

And if you don't believe us, just look how great things have been the last eight years.

We want every American to be the best that he or she chooses to be.
We realize that we are all individuals.
We love and revere our founding documents, the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. We take the Preamble seriously - life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Just don't pursuit happiness with someone of the same gender.

Mr. Jacobs hits the nail right on the head. Bravo Sir! Twenty years of the same infantile food fight has been moderately entertaining from time to time, it has now become a grotesque example of our inability to effectively reason as a people, and our desire to dwell in one or another ideological prison of our own construction. I have yet to discover an ideological framework that offers anything other than shackles. As conditions on the ground change, one is bound to a certain set of ideas regardless of their inherent merits. I suppose some would call that loyalty, or possibly principle. At this point I call it the very definition of insanity. There is not a whole lot of time left to screw around with these "Who I Am" expositions while the future turns into a nightmare for the next generation of Americans.

Rush is a demagogue, pure and simple, and there is obviously no shortage of ideological morons on the Left either. The Sage of Baltimore probably comes closest to how I see the sorry state of affairs in politics, and the resulting vacuum of ideas:

"... the worship of Jackals by Jackasses."

While I do not share Mencken's broad contempt for the democratic (small d) process in the USA, I do share his contempt for carnival barkers like Rush, and those that follow them blindly. The hucksterism so prevalent at both political extremes is so successful because so many can willingly suspend disbelief, often for a very long time. Absolutely amazing.

As for Rush's attempt to define conservatives, the words are so hollow as to be completely weightless. They characterize a profound effort to ignore reality, and to distort the facts of recent history. I wish I could say that such a bold commitment to hypocrisy is rare. It might be fair to say that conservatives should embrace these values, but in my experience very few indeed actually do so. Add to this that they are abject failures at running the government, and it is easy to see why even the apathetic American voter has rejected, and continues to reject, their ideas. I just hope we do not end up with the same disillusionment in four years or so, all because each side cannot help but appeal to the influential extremists among them. The time for cheerleading is over, and the time for serious scrutiny of our available options is at hand. I hope we find the courage and the fortitude to shut out the noise coming from the extreme ends of the political spectrum. Soon.

While I could not disagree more with the post, I am forced to say thanks. It got me thinking. As I survey most of the comments it is more than apparent to me that we have much to do in the way of fostering a rational discussion based on reality.

So according to Rush it is only negative talk that is the cause of this economic collaspe.
And you are listing up there that Rush loves people etc etc,

Please expalin then, why I have more than once heard Rush doing voice mimicing of various legislators Barny Frank in particular, Oh very "people loving" very respectful.

I have heard Rush call Democrats and Liberals disrespectful hateful names, like any 4 grade bully. You admire this, you consider him someone to be admired?

William Buckley is credited with the origin and success of this Conservative/Capitalistic movement that is now at an end.

He was never in his publications nor on the air as disrespectful and disgracful as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Glen Beck. Buckley was completely confident that his ideas would stand on their own, and yes for conservatives and capitalists, the ideas stood. Please Note: Buckley had abandoned Bush/Cheny and his policies before he died.

This man Rush Limbaugh is no intellectual, and no "loving kind human"

But, ok celebrate him all the way to the poor house.

Conservatives value the constitution? Good! I hope you will join in the condemnation of the Bush administration's policy of disregarding our constitutional rights. The memos by the justice department released today essentially showed that the Bush administration believe they could disregard freedom of speech and illegal search and seizure. If I hear Rush Limbaugh speak out against this, instead of him whining about the fairness doctrine, I might start believing that he really does care about this country.

Also, Ben, many of those state mental hospitals were holding and drugging people who should have never been there. I personally met 3 such persons in Texas and hired one to work with me. She had been institutionalized from about age 3. She wasn't dangerous, just mentally challenged. Once she was off the forced drugs, she was a trainable adult who loved being out of the hospital and working. The other 2 I met had similar stories. Perhaps Reagan could have done things a bit differently, but in many cases he was absolutely right to stop funding them.

Thanks for presenting the facts, David Jacobs. As my pastor says (when he's quoting people from various faiths or of no faith), "facts are facts no matter who presents them." But the key word is facts. Things that can be found elsewhere on places where anyone can agree that they're genuine. Your stats may have come from one place, but since they were originally taken from another, I believe they stand.

David, you mentioned above that few conservatives are getting angry at the boards of directors and financial institutes and such, and I beg to differ with you. I get daily emails from many conservative news sources and have seen many articles about this. Conservatives who are Christian are certainly upset about it. We believe that we're supposed to be good stewards, and being good stewards does not mean taking bonuses for failed business practices.

It amazes me that people are not concerned about from whom the money is being borrowed or how much money our government might be having printed up. In the first case, so much of our country's debt is now owned by foreign countries and foreign individuals. We should all be worried about that. I heard one conservative talking about how we're borrowing more money from an oil country that really doesn't like us. Would we, as individuals, ever borrow personally from someone who didn't like us? I don't think we would, because we would be afraid that the debt would be called in and wouldn't be able to pay. Why don't we worry about that as a country?

And the latter - printing money - raises inflation. Why aren't we more concerned about that?

David, please do some research into how we got here. This whole financial mess started with socialist politicians who decided that everyone is "entitled" to own a home, and if they can not afford it - so what- give them the bad mortgage loan anyway.
Barney Frank, Chriss Dodd, Franklyn Raines, Paul Bagala, Rahm Emanuel, Obama all took millions from Fannie and Freddie. Barney cut off hearings looking into these two democrat run agencies, saying they were in good shape.

The billions in toxic loans were then bundled and sold off to banks with the blessing of fan and Fred who guaranteed these loans. Result a financial disaster which should have never happened. It did not happen because of wall street bonuses- it happened because of idiotic thieves- aka- politicians.
And now we have the same idiot politicians who caused this disaster in charge of trillions of our future dollars and are just giving it away and stealing a good part of it.
The Federal Government is one Gigantic Rotten Lemonade Stand. Every problem we have in this country is the result of these idiots in power. David, the truth is Irresponsible crooked, lying, politicians are the cause of our problems. Obama, has just sent our nation into a 3 trillion dollar debt. A politician has bankrupted every state and city in America, look around for yourself. Now it's time for Obama to bankrupt our nation- 3 trillion dollar debt on the backs of our kids and grandkids.

David and Micky, I think you're both right. The financial institutions should have never given loans to people without knowing they could repay them, but they were "strongly encouraged" to do so by politicians and lobbyists groups. (Some bankers claim they were threatened with being labeled racists if they didn't comply.)

But we should also be totally outraged at businesses - of any kind - that pay bonuses to CEOs when there has been an obvious business falure. We should be outraged when they put their hands out expecting the government to save them. And we should be outraged at the government for giving them money.

Long ago, our government should have allowed businesses to fail or to succeed on their own.

I, too, was proud of Rush Limbaugh's speech !!

He's just a "tell it like it is" kind of guy, and doesn't patronize Obama or his worshippers. Rush is an important and relevant voice against Obama and his administrators who want to rob us of the right to have any personal responsibility or accountability in the state of ours and our nations affairs. They wish us to believe that only they can save us from this "crisis", and we just need to step aside and let them put more and more government into every phase of our lives.

Obama and Co. will use and abuse Rush because they fear him and his message, because they know it is a message of truth. This is an age old liberal tactic, one that is demonstrated vividly by most of the attacks on Limbaugh from the left. They create an unrealistic and simple charicature of what Rush and conservatives are. The intensity of attacks on Rush will escalate because they need to shut him up.

Rush points out, in loud and clear language that no socialist government, like the one Obama is pushing, has ever lasted for long, successfully. It has been proven to fail. Look at the Canadians who are rushing to the USA for healthcare.

Rush says he wants any person (Obama) or group (liberals) who are out to destroy American capitalism to fail. His words have been twisted and turned as Obama and Co. use him as a strawman and refuse to deal directly with his actual words, or who he really is. They can't, they know he's right.

David, Irresponsibly squander our money. The corrupt, liars known as our representatives have squandered and stolen our paycheck dollars forever. It saddens me to see you refuse to put the blame where it belongs. Self- interest is what are political leeches live for. Skin in the game, the new liberal phrase, from Obama. David, we all have skin in the game every working man, woman, and child has their skin in the game. What skin do political blo-hards have in the game?. We pay these incompetent boobs, these hustlers give themselves raises- gold plated pensions- trips all around the world that we people with skin in the game pay for.
Skin in the Game, what skin does Obama have in the game? he is a millionaire man of privilege who will retire with a pension of 500,00 dollars paid for by we the people.
If we the people want to cure the problems we face in America, we should get General Petraeus to lead an investigation into every political crook sitting in Washington. And one by one as these thieves are uncovered they should be sent off to prison, denied any pension and let these fools suffer the same fate as corrupt private sector people do--Jail-Time.
Bush was a train-wreck? David as a conservative I had no love for Bush, a liberal republican in domestic spending. But W. had a great economy for 6 years, all economic numbers were good-market hit record highs. David, every city and state in this country is bankrupt how did this happen was it ceo of business?- or was it a pack of political skunks who sold us out in order to get themselves elected over and over again. These louses bankrupted this nation for one reason and one reason only-- For their Self-Interest and wealth, which they insidiously achieved on the backs of the only people who have skin in the game--The hard working- over taxed- great American men and woman.
Detroit, California, New York, Cleveland, Chicago, ON AND ON AND ON!
David, big businesses did not bankrupt this country. It was the corrupt "Fools on the Hill".

David,

You said:

"Yes, accountability is critical, but it must be applied throughout our system. "

I have no disagreement with that, and very little with anything in your comment.

In your example of the excavator, there was open and honest communication between the man and his wife, a necessity in that situation as well as within any organization of any type. A failure to openly communicate will cause the break down of most things, not just Capitalism. Under any form of government, or business, it is essential to be aware that every person will act in their own best interest at all times. When greed takes over, everything is out the window, in the absence of an accountable person who is overseeing the operation. That has happened in this country, and that is why we are in the worst economic condition since the great depression. But that has happened, that is in the past, now we have to try to get out of it as best we can.

My point was the way Obama says he is trying to get us out of it. I don't believe the solution lies in forcing more and more government in every phase of our lives, and I believe that is what Obama intends to do as he leads us down the path to Socialism.

I was speaking in support of Rush Limbaugh when he said he wants to see "anyone" fail who is attempting to take this country into Socialism and destroy American Capitalism. To this end, Obama must be stopped, right at the outset, from accomplishing this. Rush Limbaugh is proving to be the catalyst who can do this. The Conservative speaker de facto. Also remember, the next step after Socialism is Communism.

There is so much interpretation in the above discussion...some are looking at the glass half empty and some are looking at it half full....one thing I do know, and it has nothing to do with party affiliation...anything is possibly when the people get behind it...and Limbaugh had better hope Obama does succeed, because if he dosent, Limbaugh may just be out of a job...and wouldnt that be toooooooooooooooooo baddddddddddddddddddd. He is basking in the spotlight, and lets face it - negative attracts negative and positive attracts positive..and I remember that from my science class....and that has NOT changed.

first of all Aimee, you will never have communism in a faith based society...which I would suggest is a very strong part of who make up the American public...and if you feel someone who is rude, crude and unrefined is the type of catalyst that can make things right...I have a problem with your way of doing business. When I look at all the financial mess we are dealing with right now and bailing out that has been building for the last 8 years...I understand that to come under the title of "Capitalism" and it didn't work did it...or am I miss understanding what is being reported in the paper each day...

David, we come with totally different views and solutions to Americas problems. I'm arguing and referring to the themes of liberals like you and Obama's anti- capitalism- pro socialism which hold that self-distinction and personal achievement are inherently immoral.
In the minds of liberal socialist spread the wealth politicians like Barack and you, only if everyone's piece of the pie is identical we will not achieve a moral society. Socialist call it egalitarianism. Conservatives-me- calls it sapping individuals of their lifeblood, depriving them of their competitive god given human spirit to be the best they can be, and in the socialist name of helping some, all you liberals have accomplished with your big government policies is to have relegated your victims to a life of mediocrity or in many cases-look at the inner cities- David, to a life of abstract poverty and the destruction of the black family.
