- I was born on July 31, 1965 in Yate, Gloucestershire, England.
- I lived in Porto, Portugal and taught English when I met my husband, Portuguese television journalist Jorge Arantes.
- We separated in December 1994 then my daughter and I moved to Edinburgh, Scotland where I lived on welfare.
- While in Scotland I composed and wrote my first novel in coffee shops at times when my infant daughter was napping.
- I wrote seven novels in this book series; which if I named them you would immediately know me. But here is a clue: the hero goes to Hogwarts.
- Even though I could afford many, I do not own a car- since I cannot drive.
- Forbes magazine named my the first billionaire author.
- On December 26, 2001 I married anesthesiologist Neil Michael Murray.
- I received the honor of Order of the British Empire (OBE) from the Queen. Wow.
- In addition to my famous novel series, I have also written: The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Quidditch Through the Ages and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
