How often do you hear that? Me, never. It's Honey, whatcha cooking? Same idea though!
First of all, welcome to the group. I have a social group that goes by the same name at another site that I visit and it really is a lot of fun, and this seems like a great place to share my passion for cooking and saving money in the mean time.
What I like to do is to share a weekly menu plan - which I may or may not stick to... depends on if I get a crazy craving for something else. :) The idea though, is to plan first of all according to what is on sale, and then finding creative ways to first of all buy those items (coupons, store discounts, etc) and then once I get them home to use them as efficiently as possible. We don't waste much here. A big hunk of meat will make us 2 or 3 different dishes and there will be enough for us to have for dinner and then lunch the next day. For the record, our food budget for all meals, items to send with my husband's lunches etc. is $50 a week, and we normally do not go over $40 - whatever is left goes aside for holiday meals and special occasions. Budgeting and meal planning this way is why we can pull that off.
So, I will share my weekly menus as they come to me, tips for saving on some of those meals, and any recipes that strike me as share - worthy, and I really hope everyone else will do the same. I look forward to cooking with you all!
