Kath walks into Balanced Living, looks around, smiles, waves.
Hi guys, IÂ’m Kath! Nice to meet you all. I will be joining Kim Holmes and Linda Lee as a regular blogger here at the Balanced Living community, and IÂ’m thrilled to be here!
I write a healthy living food blog, Kath Eats Real Food, that follows my daily life through a photo journal of food and recipes. I am also currently in graduate school working toward a masters in nutrition as well as the Registered Dietitian credentials. I graduated from Davidson College in 2005 with a degree in history and entered corporate America working in publishing and then in public relations. Simultaneously, I set out to lose the 20 pounds I had put on in college. As I neared and then passed my goal weight, I decided I wanted to help others feel as good as I did and made the decision to go back to school and pursue a career in nutrition. Next thing I knew, I was sitting in Chemistry 101 with the freshman ready to charge through a few years of undergraduate and graduate nutrition and chemistry courses. Around the same time, my food blog took off in readership, and my life began to whirl into the craziness it is today. My roles as a blogger, a fulltime student and a wife are 24 hour mental jobs that keep my brain always switched to “on.” Having maintained my 30-pound weight loss for nearly two years now, I feel that I’ve found happiness in healthy eating and exercise, but these days my brain could use a balance makeover!
Speaking of makeovers, there are just a few more hours to enter the Balanced Living Challenge! I’ve really enjoyed browsing through some of your entries. I feel rejuvenated just reading them! One of my favorite ways to unwind and de-stress is to read a captivating novel in a hot bubble bath, so if I won the challenge, I’d use the $5,000 to put a Jacuzzi tub in our master bathroom. Our current “master” bathroom is not really a bathroom at all. It’s a vanity in a corner of the bedroom next to a closet containing a shower/toilet combo. It’s dark, small and anything but feng sui! I currently take baths in the hall bathroom where the tub is so tiny I have trouble keeping my whole body under the water to keep warm in the winter! I know I would fit comfortably in a big garden tub with jets JAfter I paid for the tub, I’d donate the rest of the money to my public library with the stipulation that they buy a list of books I’ve been wanting to read and put me at the top of the waiting list for them! Then I could clear my mind each night drifting into another world.
I look forward to getting to know you all in the coming months. I am so happy to be here.
Kath

Here's a question for you:
What kind of advice do you have for those of us with unbalanced brains?
I am still seeking the answer to that myself! But I would start by recommending you re-prioritize daily activities and to-dos so that you can fit yourself and well-being in the equation. I've recently starting doing audio yoga first thing in the morning and it's made my life more relaxed. And as I mentioned above, I love taking 15 minutes at the end of the day for a bubble bath. The time is there - you just have to find it.

Yes, Lee is right - a closet with both a toilet and shower.
