EMT faces court after ignoring a dying man because his house was messy

AN ambulanceman will face court after allegedly ignoring a dying man because his house was messy.

Karl Harris and a colleague were sent to aid ailing Barry Baker after he dialled 999 saying he was having a heart attack.

But it is claimed the ambulanceman decided not to attempt to resuscitate the 59-year-old because his house was in such a state.

What a terrible story.  How could you just stand by and do nothing when someone is dying.  It was his job to help the man and he didn't do it.  I hope they throw him in jail.

Arent they supposed to help anyone as long as they are in no emmidiate danger themselves?? very sad. I hope they are brought up on charges.

That is sad, The house being messy was not a danger to them. He called for help from the one place set up to give help and the emt watched him die cause of a messy house. That emt needs to spend time in jail and needs some severe mental help.

Thats horrible. I was an EMT a few years back and I went to a few messy houses. In one house we had to fight off chickens in the house. But there is no way I could have not helped that person.

That's pitiful! Everyone's house becomes a wreck from one time to another. That is no excuse to help a person in need! This world is so messed up!

Well there is messy and there is messy. Our volunteer EMT's couldn't help a neighbor because he had such a bad infection in his legs...... .they had grown into the mattress and bedding and were infested with maggots. They had to call the HazMat team to bring him out!
