I agree with Robyn. I can't answer for your state or situation. It could be to start the process so that if you don't complete whatever you need to do the child won't be jumping foster home to foster home, I really don't know. How much more do you have to do? Is everything already completed?

I'm sorry you have to deal with this, and I don't really know the whole story, but it is probably something they just have to do to have everything in place so that when the time comes if anything happens between now and then they will have it ready to move on with it.

Please get a different lawyer, one you pay money for, no matter what you got to do to get one, do it! I know so much about CPS (in Indiana it is now CPS instead of DCFS). I could tell you so many stories about good decent families victimized and traumatized by them, I know personally, and they are led to believe they are the only ones this has happened to and who would believe them anyway? so they are bullied and threatened into silence and feel so isolated. DO NOT TRUST THEM, or you may not get your daughter back. E-mail me privately, the stories I could tell you wouldn't fit on this page. DO NOT STAY WITH THAT COURT APPOINTED ATTORNEY, PLEASE! I know what I am talking about, this is happening, hundreds of cases a year all over Indiana, and ya know, noone ever can sue the government, and they know it. Be proactive, before you regret it. I know you may be financially strapped, but your baby is worth it. You don't want to look back and say, well maybe we could have made payments if we had got rid of this, or sold that, or did without this other. It is not worth, in this instance, to be frugal. There is not enough room to tell you here all I know.

The papers should state that the goal is reunification. No where should the words adoptive placement be written. If it is written it means that that is the goal of the agency. Someone may have already put an application in to adopt Gracee or shown an interest in the case. Be vary wary. Social services will pretend to be on your side when they are not. It is a numbers game to them.

I HATE CPS AND THE Trauma the put kids thourhg and it tears famlies up all over the place and 90% of the time there is no valid reason to take a child it is power and control. What Linda said is very true do not TRUST CPS and if you have a low income attorney beware they often can be bought out.

Sounds like maybe you can't entirely trust your attorney. Call your state congressman. He may be able to help or find some help for you. Asking is free and your taxes pay his salary.

Skip your attorney, sounds like he's giving you the runaround go to social services and ask for a counselor to sit and explain it to you until you do understand.......if confused then another option is to e-mail the contents of the actual letter to someone you trust here on Gather so they can read it and explain it to you....preferably someone will some law skills and knowledge of YOUR state you live in. Something stinks here. Don't sit around thinking your lawyer is "working it for you" be PROACTIVE...NOT REACTIVE.

Your situation sounds so complicated. Do all that is asked and believe in God's will.

I am concerned that the attorney you are speaking to is not really your attorney. If it really is your attorney, then you need to have him or her answer this question for you. My advice is to be very prepared before you talk to your attorney - write down a list of the things you need answered during your conversation before you even pick up the phone.

try to do the best you can and do everything they say. ask them what am I not doing that I should be doing. Have them list on paper what they think you aren't doing. I am so sorry you are going through this. I hate CPS

What are you doing now? How is everything in you case? This is so strange to me that they say you aint complying, but the state dose what it wants. . .

I would call police and all kinds of people and I would go ALL THE WAY and fight for ALL my rights!
