President Barack Obama came to office promising Hope and Change. But, since taking office he has just offered us fear and misdirection. Now as the Presidents budget is presented we see exactly what he has planned for us all. He loves bigger government and more taxes. In a economic downturn it would seem crazy to offer higher taxes not for obama he plans for an additional 1 trillion of them. What will the money be used for? Well 600 Billion is going to be set aside for socialized medicine. We are also going to pay for alternative energy that will not work with out talking about Nuclear power plants. Oh, and from the guy who wanted no waste there are a mere 9,000 earmarks. And today he comes out against guns. I wonder why he would do that? Because he wants to make sure no one will have any when they decide to follow the Declarations of Independence and try to "alter or abolish" their government.

First, what makes you think the national debt will ever be repaid? I inherited a national debt back in 1960 (about) and I haven't had to pay of any of it yet. Politicians don't want to tax me when they can just borrow some more. Look how unpopular the Presidents were who reduced the debt (Truman, Carter, Clinton) and how their opponents accused them of being tax and spend liberals.
Second, do you believe that alternative sources of energy cannot be improved? Do you think that solar and wind energy collection will never get any better, especially if we invest in more research in those areas?
Third, isn't it a bit late to think that the public can be disarmed? We have more guns in private hands than the rest of the world has in their military.
Finally, most of us are having our taxes reduced. Unless more money gets into the hands of the poor we will not get out of this recession/depression. It really doesn't matter whether they deserve that money or not unless they get it we are hosed.
I think we need to reduce the debt and the way to do that is cut spending and grow the economy.
Alternate energy way be part of the solution, but nuclear has to fit in as well. instead of throwing good money after bad on alternative energy lets set aside 100 million as a prize for the company that devlops a system that meets certain goals we set.
On taxes I want everyones taxes reduced. That is the only way to really stimulate the economy. Not $13 dollars a week, but real relief. People can better spend money than government.
History started before 8 years ago. This whole thing started decades ago, there is plenty of blame to go around.
I agree that nuclear will be part of the energy solution.
Today's economy will not benefit from reducing taxes on people who earn over 100,000 per year. It's the people who have no income or almost no income (like everyone on disability or food stamps and such) who should be getting the money. Why give it to someone like myself who doesn't need it and who will not change spending habits if I do get it? We need a massive distribution of money to the very poor to fix the problem whether they deserve it or not. Let the poor spend money and everything and everybody above them will benefit.
Why do we need to reduce the national debt? We have had that debt since about 1940, almost 70 years, and it hasn't seemed to make much difference on way or the other. True, the Republicans always complain about it but they are the ones responsible for most of that debt since they won't pay as they go but borrow and spend wildly instead.
What do we get from paying off the national debt? Exactly how does reducing the money supply help us now? (Repaying loans reduces the money supply, as you know.)
www.fairtax.org is the solution to many of our problems. Im tired of everyone who has money not paying taxes. Companies that send all the profits across seas to not pay taxes makes blood shoot out of my eyes.
By the way, according to the US Treasury Department, if Obama did NOTHING at all, the debt would be reduced by 70% by 2012. Capitalism at its finest. However, he'll keep spending and telling us that he can get the national debt down 50% by 2012. HMMM. Taking the credit for a scheduled pay off is no bueno. Dont be a hero if you have to fake it. Then you just look like a boob.
Larry, reducing federal spending increases many things. One of which is our credit rating. Second is the ability to borrow money if we need it. The pot is becoming empty regarding that. There isnt too many more people we can go to for cash. China is pissed at us already. Thirdly, if we are able to decrease government expenses, we can use that money for more important things like helping the homeless, curing cancer, etc.
China said it best.... "we hate you for being so financially irresponsible. We hate you because we have no choice but to lend you this money."
1.5 billion people consumers that COULD be buying our products... nice move guys... keep it up.

As for Carla, yeah...Obama does sound very much like Bush right down to the promises to balance the budget (in the near future of course) and the use of fear to pass bills.
