Paris, a City of Light ~ for Jan H.

Jan H. wrote a visual poem about traveling back to Paris.  Pareee....ah, city of light.  I asked in a comment if she might not take me in her suitcase.  I would love to stroll the streets with her, listen to the jazzy accordions and eat oysters in the raw. And oh, the museums...would love to go to the Louvre and spend days there.  As for the champagne, I think I will pass on that.  More then one drink leaves me laying horizontal on the floor.

Yes, Paris....that would certainly be better then the French Pavilion at Epcot Center.

The year befor Hannah was born Danny and I went to Paris, it was just before they changed their money to Euros, it was an affordable trip. We had a blast doing exactly what you want to do, strolling the streets. We spent one Day at the Louvre, but you really need to allot a least a week maybe even months to see every thing. I too dream of going back to Paris one day.
We've never been to Epcot, that is on our list of things to do as well. We just need time and lots of money!!!

Ah ... Guerlain. Wore Shalimar as a child [well, it was my first perfume, I was an adolescent]. Now I have come full circle and wear about 3 of their scents. Bob, this matched nicely with Jans' poem. Thank you.

Looks like Jan is going to have to get some very BIG suitcases, dog crates, and carry-ons to take us all. Sure hope Sam doesn't mind sharing the unused bed in their room in the hotel with all of us. We can hang sheets between the two beds. That works for me.

I' definitely think a summer in Paris is a great start! A week in the Louvre would be so nice too!! Oooohhhh now I am thinking I need to make a plan, would love to show you my scrapbook. Don't know how to scan photos or I would try to do a gather article, if I had the time!

I spent more than a week in the Louvre. It's a good thing I was alone. No one else would have put up with my snail's pace.

Don't forget the chocolate crepes purchased from the street vendors on the Champs Elysee on the way to the Louvre!

A summer in Paris sounds heavenly, Bridget. Maybe I can come over some day and look at your pictures. I know in 1998, Will took fourteen year old Zach to Paris for several weeks...I believed they stayed in a hostel right near the Eiffel Tower. Will says Paris is one of his favorite places. On the other hand, Zach thinks Munich is most wonderful.

Ooooooo, make room for me! Last time I was in Paris, I was quite infatuated with a certain boyfriend and missed quite a lot of the offerings......the Louvre shocked me with terrible light and stacked paintings up the wall. I hope they've improved since that long ago time..........

It is true that we need a long time to see Paris...and while we are there we must explore les environs. I'm thinking Gather Gypsy Caravans Cross France for Food, Photography and Cultural Enlightenment We can send daily video reports via our hi-tech phones and cameras...and of course, Gather would foot the bill. I've heard that river boats are a fine way to traverse the country as well. And then there would be the Gather Writing Contest for all the participants..."My Year as a Gypsy in France"

Time to plan a Gather Meet-up, is right, Madame. As for Munich....I loved Munich. We stayed in a pension by the outdoor Market for a week once. Like Boston ,Munich is a walking city.

A trip to Paris sounds wonderful, Bob. My sister tells me you need days and days to go through the Louvre. Probably the best I'll ever do is get another book. But seeing the Louvre is a dream of mine. Never quite make it though.
