Is threatening to withhold the babies from their mother unless she can prove she can take care of them.  Now, I don't think it was wise for her to have that many children but I don't think the hospital has a right legally to keep her babies from her.  I think she should get an attorney if they try to pull this on her.

It's not the hospital's place to withhold her babies from her.  I don't think they can legally.  Plus the fact, there are a number of people out there who have come to her aid and are talking about giving her a home for all of her children and her.

If the government gives all these illegals money for taking care of their multitude of kids, they shouldn't keep her from raising her own children.

They can't but I don't agree. In fact its pretty funny that to adopt a child you have to have a certain amount of space for them, prove this and that. However, to have IVF you can have as many as you want and not prove nothing.

Actually if she doesn't have the means to transport them home with child approved car seats, those children won't be going anywhere.

In some ways its a smart move, and its one reason she is trying to get a new house to prove that she can 'provide for them'.

Makes me wonder if she will take the porno offer that is on the table..............

Like I said, I don't think she should have had the eggs put in when she already had six children but I also don't think the hospital or anyone else should take them from her unless she doesn't care for them properly. That sets up a really bad precedent for all of us regarding our own children.

That is not cool! I can understand if no proper/legal transportation but It is not ok unless she is neglecting them...

It is hard for me to understand why she wanted so many kids in the first place. But hey if she actually has a way to take care of them be my quest. Although i dont think its right for the hospital to keep her babies from her i do think its right that they are concerned she may not be able to take care of them. Maybe she will prove them wrong given that chance? we will see.

I also have to wonder if they have Social Services breathing down their necks? And if they are worried about liability if they release the babies to a woman who has no place to stay and no real means to support them.

But I do know that hospital staff want to see approved car carriers adn transportation no matter what..........in fact they don't release without seeing it when they release the patient.

They don't release babies without seeing approved carriers? Wow. "Free" nation, my foot. The babies don't belong to the hospital! I don't agree with what she did, either, but how can it be up to the hospital to decide whether she can or can't care for them??

Who knows, anymore? The world's gone nuts!!! If a certain doctor took responsiblity in the first place, and didn't allow her on all those fertility drugs, she woudln't be in this situation!!!

Yes they do have the right.
Welfare of the children come first. The cps can take these children and put them in foster homes at any time.
She had a attorney, the death threats made the attorney back off and quit, not worth it when the attorney is working for free.
The hospital could care less about the mothers feelings. The welfare of the babies is number one and in this case I agree. This mother is unfit to care for 14 babies. In my eyes the three of the six disabled kids need taken away as well..... If she is unfit to care for the new 8, she dose not need three disabled.
This is all that "mothers" choice. She wanted the public involved...... even the grandfather said not to take it out on the babies - don't let that mother have them, that would be cruel.

The hospital doesn't, but they are obligated by law to report any suspicians of incompetency to child protective services which does have the authority.

I don't know about California, but in some states when they report to CPS, then they can hold the child until the CPS agent clears the release.

Hospitals, indeed all medical professionals (most states include teachers, and many also include clergy), are legally bound to report any/all child welfare concerns for appropriate investigation. Protective Services would require the hospital to hold the children, or would refer them to foster placement during an investigation.

These kids are going to be in a zoo, at best, all their lives. The mother has proven she cannot provide for the six she already had. Many people talk about the moral and ethical decline in society -- isn't intervention on behalf of children a Biblical value?

One should not be so quick to judge this woman. I firmly believe preference shold be given to the birth mother to raise her children.

My first ever teaching assignment was with fourth graders. I could tell a huge difference between children with parents and those being raised in Foster homes.

One of my neighbors is rather disliked by most of my neighbors because she is a liar and constantly begs for money. She does not, on the surface, seem like a good parent, but her two young daughters are very well behaved. Child raising is not the govt's business.

I don't think the hospital has this right but social services or child protective services does and they may be the ones asking these questions. She should get an attorney. And if she can't show she can take care of them, they shouldn't go home with her and they should be asking questions about the care and welfare of the ones at home. She's a mess. Mentally unstable from what I've seen.

Correct about the car seats! We were planning on walking home(we live 4 houses from our hospital) with my daughter but they made my husband bring the car with the car seat so they can see it was properly set up, etc.

Most hospital give FREE car seats for babies, If the parents cannot afford to buy them.
I do not agree with what she did either, If she cannot take care of them, DSS will step in.
That is sad because there are so many children in that system now.

I think people need to stop judging her. Just because a big family is not what you want is no reason to try and stop someone else from having one. The mother has not abused or neglected her kids. So, leave her be.
