Bobby Jindal, the young Louisiana governor, had his big moment in the spotlight last night as the designated Republican to put forth a response to President Obama's speech to Congress and the nation. By all indications, he messed it up big time.
Conservative writer David Brook, had the following to say on Jindal's performance last night.

Bobby Jindal BLOWS!
He did perform one amazing feat tho..........he has made Thrush Limbaugh's head explode as he waves his arms around and excommunicates anyone who fails to see and worship what is NOT there! How the MIGHTY have fallen!
Off on a tangent there. I watched Gov. Jindal already knowing that if he started putting down the president and saying what he is doing is irresponsible then he wouldn't come across too well. I actually felt sorry for the guy toward the end because I couldn't imagine how he could keep it up for that long without just walking off the set and and saying, "screw it." It just didn't sound believable even.
It would seem however, notwithstanding any personal performance qualities, that Jindal is merely the messenger for the Republican-crafted philosophy. So Jindal shouldn't necessarily be used as a foil. That said, your article and David Brooks' critique demonstrates the problems the Republican party has right now. It has to figure out "what went wrong." Unfortunately 1/2 the party is pointing to the other 1/2 as the problem (and vice versa). But their biggest problem is that the Democrats finally got smart. They already know how they will use the stimulus vote against the Republicans, and the gist is what Brooks' says - the Republicans have the same old tired message that got us into this mess in the first place...why on earth would you put them back in power to make it even worse?
"Obama is my shepard, there is nothing shall I want"
"Bobby Jindall looked like Jerry Lewis playing golf against Tiger Woods."
I blame the parents for caving in to their whines, now they think that's the way to get what they want.
He looked more like Charles Barkely playing golf against himself.
