Although I was never really a fan of this song this one was an easy pick for me. Johnny Cash's version is the one I like best.

Soundgarden gets my vote...because I like them and the harder edge, but I also like Johnny's version from the first time I heard it. I couldn't believe he remade this song and did such a good job with it.

Soundgarden's version is the one I like best. They add their own personal style to the song.

I thought it was really weird when Johnny Cash re-did all these songs, especially when he re-made Hurt by Nine Inch Nails, but he does a pretty good job. I have to go with the original on this one though. Soundgarden gets it.

Courtney I guess he must have though Hey people are remaking my songs all the time why not give it a try. By the way I think he did a great job with Hurt. I'll use that song one of these days for this.

I never heard this song before. Thus, here's my vote:
Even though I wasn't impressed with either song too much..
Johnny's version was much better musically speaking.

I love Chris Cornell's voice and Johnny's , however this song doesn't do it for me.

Soundgarden's "Spoonman" really showcases Chris' voice much better.

Or Temple of the Dog (Featuring Cornell) "I'm Going Hungry"

Johnny's voice is better showcased in almost every other song he sang.

Gotta love Johnny Cash for trying so hard to be relevant as he neared the end of his life. Some of his songs from that particular album were good, but others were not. Regardless the originals on all of them were better, including this one.

My favorite version is by Soundgarden. Johnny Cash did a good rendition of this and there would be times when I would listen to it over Soundgarden's version.

Being more of a modern musician, and always a fan Chris Cornell's voice, I'm going to go with the original and first: Soundgarden. This isn't to say I don't have a lot of respect for Johnny Cash. He had a big influence on many bands, and if I had to pick between the two 'Hurt's, I'd pick Johnny Cash's.
