A Listening Test
1. People close to me would say that I listen more than I speak.
2. I give people my undivided attention when they are speaking to me.
3. I am aware of my primary defense mechanisms when listening (blaming, problem-solving prematurely, or becoming distracted)
4. I don't interrupt or look for openings to get my point across when another person is speaking.
5. I am able to reflect back and truly enter into what another person is feeling.
6. I listen not only to what people say, but also for their non-verbal cues (body language, tone of voice, etc.)
Now count your responses.
If you scored 5-6 you are an excellent listener.
If you scored 3-4 you are an Average listener.
If you scored 2-0 you may want to take a look at your listening skills.
