Ha. Like he thinks we don't remember? Sure, move all the poor people out of your state with the help of a natural disaster in which everyone is left to fend for themselves and maybe things will look up.

One of the worst political speeches in memory. His worn-out diatribe against a useful role for government--in the midst of the current crisis--not only sounded silly and sophomoric but emblematic of the disarray in the Republican Party.

That was pathetic. Talking about Katrina. Way to tank your party. I don't know what else was missing. He also talked about how well they responded after 9/11. I guess the only thing missing was Saddam Hussein. He should have remind us they got rid of a dangerous man for half the stimulus cost.

If the Repubs continue to emulate the Dems but only less so, they will be only a loyal opposition a la the 60s/70s again. A difference of degrees does not excite enough support and the numbers of apathetic voters will just continue to grow. Even with all the supposed great excitement in 2008, the numbers didn't jump much of actual voters. We are fast becoming a country where a minority will elect the ruling party.

Your party took the old Repub policies of protectionism and ran with it. FDR created the modern practice of creating specific policies to buy/mollify voter groups to an art form that has defined politics ever since. As one economist noted, the Dems out Republicaned the Repubs and no one has been able to touch them since.
