She sat on a stump at that busy intersection,
Her toes crammed in to too pointy shoes,
Her feet poised balancing the heft of her calves.
Not pretty.
Cars whizzed by too fast to notice her-
But I couldn't look away.
All dressed up with no place to go.
She pretended to receive a very important call-
Talked to the air, mouthed words no ear would hear,
As her dress billowed around her like an upended poppy.
