I am pleased to officially announce that Dame Ruth, Chief Executive Elitist D. is the new Member Editor for Humor Mondays in the Writing Essential. She has contributed a great deal of wisdom, wit, sass, and class to Gather since joining that fateful day of August 1, 2006.
According to Dame Ruth: "I'm a teenage hellion in a creaky old body. I have recently published my eighth book, called "LIFE, DEATH AND OTHER TRIVIA, Outrageous Observations of a Wicked Old Broad." My earlier works were controversial, but made the bestsellers lists in the US and UK and kept me alive for a lot of years. I spent eight years going around the world, living by my wits and the occasional royalty check. I've had more than 200 addresses, two husbands, two children, four grandchildren and a new great grandson. At 84, I can truthfully say "been there, done that" about virtually everything, everyplace and everybody.
She has made us laugh. She has even made some of us cry. Her level of commitment to maintaining the quality of writing on Gather is going to be a great asset to the Writing Essential. I look forward to checking in on Mondays. Please help me welcome Dame Ruth. And don't forget to check out her latest book, "LIFE, DEATH AND OTHER TRIVIA, Outrageous Observations of a Wicked Old Broad."

(That's okay, she's more than I can handle alone.)
1. (idiomatic) The assertion that sensationalism, in the media, is beneficial to the subject, in the sense that they get publicity. Thus this phrase may be said after coverage of a scandal or a controversy.
Only two husbands???? Of your own I imagine?
Finest kind.
Peace
Never. At least none (in the last five minutes) that I am aware of. On a serious note, this announcement makes me very happy. Ruth is a dear friend, someone whose work I admire, and, should I ever decide to grow up, I hope I can be half as intelligent, witty, and lovable as she is.

Way to go, Sandy!
The burning question in my mind is will you validate parking?
An excellent choice, Jennifer.
