I finally did it, I bought myself a laptop

I finally did it, I bought myself a laptop.  I've been wanting one FOREVER now but I never took the plunge.  Well, now I'm cool and finally have one of my very own.  :)

We shopped around and found the best deal at Office Depot.

i was just looking at the little Dell Mini's the other day. I love my desktop- most of the applications I use are art based, and trying to do it on a laptop drives me nuts. But, the mini's are cheap- $250 and up, so I'm considering one just to have for when I go other places, like this summer while I camp.

I have a Dell c400, I just use it for the library and when I'm out around town (and an emergency puter). they have 'em cheap on ebay now
oh how fun! My laptop has 3G memory too but I've been wishing for 4G or more!

Yeah, my desktop was new last year, too, which is why the memory didn't bother me much. If I bought one, it'd only be used basically for checking out website updates, Gather, and chatting with Nick while I'm away. ;)

If you ever turn it on and nothing happens, remove the battery and unplug the power.
Reinstall power and battery and you are good to go.
Only problem we have had with our Toshiba.

Vista makes you yearn for xp though.

I actually have four, two don't work, just got one back that has the power plug in the lap top repaird. HP wanted over $1000 to rebuild it. too it to a tv repairman that said he coud fix it. Took him awhile to get the part, only cost me $49 to get it repaired. My wife is using it now, her shut down on her last night. we took hers in to get it reapaired..

Congrats on the laptop! We have the one that my husband got for his high school graduation (2003). It was top of the line then. It still runs pretty well. We are throwing around the idea of getting a new one sometime this year or next year, though. We will most likely be spending $7-800 on it when we do get one, though, to get everything my husband wants. It will be another Dell I'm sure.

You chose a descent one that will probably do everything you want it to do.. I have a laptop, but it's on it's way out. My laptop is a Dell with 6 gig of memory. My computer I gather on is a custom built with 4 gig of memory, and a terabyte of hard drive space.

I finally did it too. All I can say is good luck finding a carrying bag for it. Most stores only carry for up to 15.4" or the ones that will fit are just plain ugly. I have a 16" screen.

We bought ours together for Christmas, but I use it the most! It's nice now that we are housesitting, because I can take it back and forth with me...but I think I still prefer a desktop.

I'm not cool yet- I've never owned a laptop. I still have a bulky monitor and the (now) absurdly large tower. It will be a while before I update my computer or buy anything cool and new, technology-wise.

I have a MacBook. My opinion of PCs is less than stellar. My MacBook has never given me the problem PCs have over the years. And I used to think Macs were stupid. I was the stupid one for continuously buying crappy PC computers & laptops.

congrats!!! i finally got one a couple of months ago and i love it!!! the touchpad drives me crazy at times but thats my only complaint..i love my Dell Studio!!
