Many of us make New Year's resolutions to live a healthier lifestyle, but give up a month or two in. To see results, it's important to maintain the right eating and fitness habits on a day-to-day basis. Gather wants you to share your tips on how you stay feeling fit and fabulous throughout the year.
Leave your suggestions in the comment field below. However, the catch is your recommendation can only be 10 words or less. Three participants who share their short and sweet advice will be drawn to receive 500 Gather Points™ each. Of those three, Gather will select the writer of their favorite piece of advice to get their choice of a $25 CVS/pharmacy or Target gift card. (You could use it for making healthy lifestyle purchases!)

There are a lot of great ways to stay fit and fabulous!
For me, it's simple enough: eat healthy and stay active! I try to be outside as much as possible. On nasty days, I will hit the gym and work on cardio for 30min. and weights for 30min. I try to do something physical at least 4-5 times a week to stay conditioned and toned. I have upped my H2O intake and opt for water instead of sugary drinks or sodas. I've cut back on sweets (that one has proven the hardest considering I'm a gummy bear junkie!). Portion control is a major concern for me. I limit meats to the size of a deck of cards and eat lots of veggies. I'm lactose intolerant so soy milk is pretty much a staple in my diet. I also use tofu in many dishes instead of pork or chicken. Soy is high in antioxidants and has many positive effects on the body, especially concerning women's health. Small changes have seemed to make the largest impact. By altering my everyday routine ever so slightly, I have managed to lose 20lbs in the past 2 years!
I wouldn't suggest someone trying all tips at once, though, or else one might burn out quickly. Try taking a mile walk one day, then increasing it in a couple days by another and then another. You could even graduate to running instead of walking if you are so inclined. Try drinking water for one meal instead of your usual drink of choice. If that works out well, maybe you can cut out two drinks and then all of them once you realize how good water makes one feel.
I like to get 300 days of exercise a year. Even if some of the days I am too tired for good quality exercise, at least it is something and doesn't break the chain.
I have some soup for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Last time I ate was 8 a.m. and had soup and still not starving. Going to exercise now, a bit, so you can see how this routine works.
