Shoes off or on?

Do you ask people to remove their shoes when they come in your house?  Or, do you not really care?

Don't care, never ask... unless of course they are visibly muddy or something.

Don't really care unless they are really muddy. I do have a brother who is anal about people removing their shoes at his house. His kids have even been upset when I didn't remove my shoes at my own house!

I would never, ever ask anyone to remove their shoes when entering my house. I had an ex-cousin who did that....it just infuriated me (and yes, I disowned her!).

I used to have a mud room. When it was nasty out the children would come in the mud room and remove their boots, or if it was muddy they would scrape the mud off their shoes on the mud scraper, and then remove their shoes before coming into the rest of the house.As long as it was dry, no mud on their shoes the shoes remained on.

No, I don't request that people remove their shoes, but it's up to them. If they feel comfortable with shoes on, they're welcome to keep them on.

I'm kind of mixed on this one.
I honestly do prefer shoes off at the door, but that's how my family was growing up, so it's kind of a conditioned thing, lol.
I don't freak if ppl leave their shoes on, as long as they are clean and dry. You have to walk through Zoe's toy room to get through the rest of the house and I don't want the carpet that she crawls on being wet, snowy, or muddy.
