Daily Whine & Shine - Friday, February 20, 2009
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffere from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
Do you need to rant about something? Tell us about it.
Do you have somie celebration or victory you need to share? This is the place.
What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy about somiething? Or so angry you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Daily Whine & Shine, it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum, and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
Wait! Don't go away! Do you have some good news to share? Great. This is the place for that as well. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee Skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope
for ourselves.
Whether you're shouting, "Oh shuckie darn!" or yelling, "Yippee skippy!" - this is the place to be. Pulll up a rocking chair, and let's talk about it.
Now, let's celebrate.

Some daily observances in February:
February 20 - Hoodie Hoo Day.
I love this one. Northern Hemisphere Hoodie-Hoo-Day -- At high noon (local time) citizens are asked to go outdoors and yell "Hoodie-Hoo" to chase winter and make ready for spring, one month from now. Here are some suggestions for Hoodie Hoo Day. You can even send a free Hoodie Hoo E-Card.
It's also Love Your Pet Day and Cherry Pie Day.
February 21 is Card Reading Day. (Note: This might have originally been about Tarot cards, but there is no evidence of that. Today, people try to send lots of e-cards so their friends have cards to read.)

February 24 is National Tortilla Chip Day

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great. - Mark Twain

The last time I saw the dermatologist it was for my palmaplantarpustulosis. That seems to be under control now. While I was there, I asked him about a spot on the left side of my face. He told me not to worry because it was just an age spot.
That spot is now two spots, much darker than any "liver spots" I've seen on other people. And right next to it are two new raised bumps. One is close to my eye socket. I'm sure it's nothing, but I have to be sure.
So I'm off to my regular doc, then if she thinks it's something serious she can insist that the dermatologist - in the same doctor group and building - sees me before March 31.
only thing I have to say about today, is thank goodness it's friday!
Shine...Yet somehow I am still dragging my old tired tail to the gym in a few minutes.
Have a good day and weekend Marilyn!!
I just heard that gas and electric rates in MD we can expect another spike, in the near future. No word of how much this is just after they did a 150% rate increase a year or so ago.....typical kick the struggling family and make them struggle more.
My head is pounding
I didn't get but 3 to 4 hours (MAX) of sleep last night.
My kids can't seem to put DVDs away when they take them out of the DVD player......and they just pile the DVDs up by the DVD player, and the cases get thrown on the floor, is it a wonder a lot of my DVDs have irrepairable scratches in them?
And we are out of food in the house, the good thing si my husband gets paid, but iwth my headache, the last place I want to go is a store.
theres my shine and whines for the day.
Mooch
I was really counting on the fact that fibro isn't a progressive illness...
