Remember the grain elevator?

I posted about it here... and it has appeared in a LOT of my sunset pictures.... it is a huge structure, made of tons of concrete and rebar. There have been previous unsuccessful attempts to take it down, as it hasn't been in use for years.... but they've always been abandonned.
Not this time.
This winter, they are over there with very loud and heavy machinary and they are demolishing it. We hear it almost constantly - this morning they started at about 7 a.m. - or at least that's when I woke up and heard them already at it.

Not much to see yet.... the top of it looks messier than it did when these pictures were taken.... and yes, Lynn, I will take more as the work continues...would take some now, as there is an ice hut on the lake in front of it even, but there's so much blowing snow that it would look all blurry (and besides, while I loves ya, I'm not that fond of being out there in blowing snow to take pictures for you :) )
It is going to be a very different view without the grain elevator... and even moreso when they build condos and a yacht club and whatever else they're planning to do over there.
I am not looking forward to it.

How are you feeling, flitters?
Wrist is healed, pretty much... at least the bone.... going to take time to build up some strength in the muscles again. Saw the orthopedic guy this week.
Still doing the FDGB thing with alarming frequency though... wasn't, for awhile... but this last week or so has been horrible
I live near a quarry (a few actually) that is active and every so often I will feel the blast. Not a fun thing to experience early in the morning. It's like feeling a minor earthquake.
Then I heard stories that this whole area is filled with underground caves and all that good stuff. One day I am sure my house will just fall into the earth. I hope my insurance covers earth-swallowing accidents.
having it gone won't be so bad...but the condos/yacht club thing doesn't hold much appeal....especially if they cut down all the trees out there
I like trees!
LOL are you letting Lynn boss you around? She is like me couldnt stand the weather up there. I will let my friends in the North show photos of the snow and ice, trips and news.
Dont worry , she knows I love her and have a good sense of humor when I first wake up.
Whatever they put in place of yours, it has to be an improvement, no?
Also, you did not mention Scrooge.
Glad the wrist is doing better...it'll take a while still. Angela is limping and probably will for at least a few more weeks.
He's just finishing his dinner
Kathleen... my doctor didn't think they were anything to worry about - until I had one while driving and totalled my car. NOW he's made a referral to an internist
but then again, haven't exactly had much in the way of testing for it... although they did do a ... uh...whichever bunch of initials it is for the brain scan thingie once
No drugs to blame though
