Since I took President’s Day off from work, Robert and I wanted to do something for the day but didn’t really have the funds to go do anything “special”, so we decided on taking a drive up to Heber, Arizona. I’m always surprised at what I find on our adventures and the trips always end up being something “special” anyway. This day was really awesome!

We found some roads back behind Heber that contained a few geocaches and thought that would be a great trip. This place is awesome and I am putting it on my quad riding wish list for springtime. This has to be so gorgeous when everything is green.

When we got on the Forest Service road we found out that it’s actually a historical road. There are about 4 stops along the road that have signs that explain about the area and it’s history.
Stop #1 was pretty cool and talked about the Heber Ranger Station. It was a little hard to pick out the clues due to a foot of snow on the ground. This area was right next to a beautiful creek and you know how I love water.

Stop #2 was the best one of all. I have never seen petroglyphs or pictographs before. Here I got to see pictographs and I didn’t have to hike very far through the snow to see them. I was so impressed.

Every time I see places like this my heart gets taken back in time. Some people like to say that “they” get taken back in time, but with me for some reason that diminishes the feeling I get. My “heart and soul” are taken back in time. I love that feeling.

Stop #3 was cool too but under the snow we couldn’t follow the “trail” to the rock shelter.

Stop #4 was pretty cool too. What a beautiful place to have a home and a family.

This particular back road will eventually take you to Black Canyon Lake, a place that I’ve never been but the road was blocked off due to snow. Oh well, we’ll catch it next time when we have the quads with us.
Since we couldn’t take the lake road we decided to explore some of the homes in the area. I’m so glad we did. We had to slow down to see the llamas and the Legacy Ranch. Wow. This is where I want to live; preferably in that lodge. LOL. We looked the lodge up on the Internet and all I can say is “Wow!!!”.

BTW, this lodge is 21,000 square feet!!!!!

The day ended up being a “special” day after all.

I can still see some snow on the mountains to the northeast (up your direction) from way down here in Peoria. Today I caught a glimpse of 4Peaks with snow on top. very cool.
Great pictures, and the Llamas are cool too! Thanks.
John: They are "metates" and they are so cool.
I love geocaching, too :)
