Politico is reporting the following story: How do you feel about Republicans seeking to get their hands on some of the stimulus money?
Nine Fla. Republicans want stim cash
They voted no, but they want the dough.
We're getting into broken record territory here on Republicans clamoring for stimulus money.
Nine GOP House members from Florida, all stimulus no's, joined nine of their Democratic colleagues, all yesses, in asking the feds to grant a waiver giving them access to, you guessed it, hundreds of millions in state stabilization stimulus cash.
“This critical funding is vital to protecting our schools from budget cuts and teacher layoffs. Because Florida has been hit especially hard by a rise in foreclosures, unemployment, and recent natural disasters, we are experiencing a crippling budget crisis. Now more than ever, we must invest in our state’s future,” said the letter.
The Republican co-signers: Adam Putnam, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, Tom Rooney, Mario Diaz-Balart, Ginny Brown-Waite, Cliff Stearns, John Mica and Bill Posey.
The Dems: Suzanne Kosmos, Ron Klein, Alcee Hastings, Robert Wexler, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Kathy Castor, Kendrick Meek, Alan Grayson and Corrine Brown.

I thought we voted for change.
We? Um I didn't. :)
Grow up.
Yeah they want the school money that was cut down in the bill...
So for all you whiners talking about the debt for future generations, thank a Republican.
So take down that picture of St.Reagan and put the picture of Jesus back up.
Jindal is only going to be viable as a candidate until he starts talking about how the earth is only 6000 years old, and that there's no such thing as dinosaurs.
Sanford can act like he won't take the money, but South Carolina already receives $1.35 for every dollar they send to Washington. Even Bernie Madoff wasn't offering a 35% return.
And Palin? Sarah the socialist can complain, but in the end she'll take the bucks.
THANK YOU, REPUBLICANS, FOR GIVING US ALL THIS DEBT, AND SPENDING ALL THAT MONEY TO ENRICH OTHER COUNTRIES, WHILE LETTING OUR COUNTRY FALL APART!
There was a LOT more than EDUCATION money in the package....
MOST of the Repubs didn't say they DIDN'T want any package at all....
they said they wanted the PORK CUT OUT....
Things like a new lawn for the mall.... a BMX track.... YEAH, THOSE THINGS are in that bill...
GO LOOK AT IT.
and as for blame on to WHO got us into this mess....
WHY DON'T YOU LOOK AT the root of the problem....
whose fault it REALLY is??? WHO made the banks fall and fall hard????
Yep, it's easy to try to blame Bush, but look a little harder....
WHO forced the BANKS to loan to people they KNEW would not be able to afford the payments?????
IT WAS THE DEMOCRATS.
Did anyone but me notice they cut out the part of the bill that gives ALL homebuyers up to a $15K credit for buying a home????
Who proposed that???? The Repubs.
Now only FIRST TIME homebuyers get a credit. To HELL with the middle class....
there will be more lending to those who can't afford it with this bill and we will be right back where we started. Except then we will be bailing out homebuyers that we GAVE stimulus money to.
I can't believe how blind you people are. I really can't.
We are waiting...
I just have to wonder, who is going to get the 80.000 rug out of this deal?
It's not a wonder that you write like you've had your brain sucked out with a straw.
"WHO forced the BANKS to loan to people they KNEW would not be able to afford the payments?????"
Actually, it was nobody. During the Clinton administration, the growth of prime lending to low and middle income borrowers increased. The genesis of the problem was really the lax enforcement of regulations that allowed bankers to lend to whoever had a pulse.
"Did anyone but me notice they cut out the part of the bill that gives ALL homebuyers up to a $15K credit for buying a home????
Who proposed that???? The Repubs."
Perhaps if they'd actually voted for any provisions of the package, they would have had some say in the outcome.
"I can't believe how blind you people are. I really can't. "
You probably thought Bush 43 was a good president, too.
"BTW, CAN ANYONE TELL me........ did the DEMOCRAPS give back ALL THE MONEY from ALL the tax reductions they voted against?????????"
No, just like the Republicons are talking against this package, but when they go home to their districts they act like they voted for it.
Jerry Yes we can, Yes we DID, YES WE WILL! P., Feb 20, 2009, 6:29am EST
And Jerry, since your dem friends love to launch "special investigations," why aren't they doing so in this financial meltdown? I have three reasons: Frank, Dodd and Rangel.
"Regulation" of the Housing Market, John, was BLOCKED by Leftists. You are being either deceitful, or you yourself, are deceived. Kay has pointed out, above, who the obstructionists were.
You are also being deceitful about "taxes." The "mantra" "Tax cut, Tax cut," is a LIE.
The CALL is for TAX CUTS, AND SPENDING CUTS. Either quit being deceitful, or, if you are merely uninformed, WAKE UP.
Fact: We will always have debt...taxes and maintenance of government employees and projects.
Fact: We will always have the need to improve and reinvent certain technologies and services.
Fact: We will always have to pay for the solders, on duty and off, disabled and retired.
Fact: We will always need to update schools and other public services like Police and Fire.
Life is not free everything costs and we can only decide which person should, by election, make the final decisions on how much and where these dollars go and when. That is the power we Americans have and must protect with each vote. We also cannot please each citizen in either election results or the resulting decisions the electorate make. Making noise without facts and alternative plans only takes up space from those who are squeezed out of logical and worthy discord.
Just for FUN, read pages 372-376 of the "Crapulus Package," where it prohibits the prosecution of obama and his friends, if they are caught POCKETING funds from the "bill."
THAT should entertain you for awhile.
Page 371 begins with a continuation of H. R. 1—371
Page 382 begins the TITLE V—STATE FISCAL RELIEF section
These pages are all dedicated to medical and Medicare issues including the medical records issues.
Literacy anyone????

That's exactly what George Bush did by not putting the money for the Iraq invasion in the BUDGET.
He doubled the deficit. Where was your outrage then?

IT'S OFF THE HOOK!
Meanwhile they are voting to continue gutting the school districts and cutting unnecessary programs like advanced math, languages, and computer classes. They have had the nerve to state that we should not take stim money for education or we will get used to having it and then it will be hard to cut back the schools in future years. What a plan, we are just barely meeting national standards right now and they want to cut back education at all levels. Around here it's pretty much, "grade school was good enough for my grampa and it's good enough for my kids."
But you can't give a Republican the time of day without getting an arguement. It's back to sun dials and counting beads as far as they are concerned. I for one am sick sick sick of listening to their ignorant excuses for gutting everything but BUSINESS. It's not for jobs it's for huge bonuses for unworthy, criminal-minded executives who have their hand in the pockets of every state and most federal officials and they are not letting go of their cash cows any time soon.
President Obama is going to have to get tough because you just can't be nice to some people. It makes them think you are weak. They want a fight so darn bad, I say we give them one they will remember for a long time. They are the big, dumb bully on the block all following blindly after the likes of Rush Limburger. All they know how to do is cause obstruction because it wasn't their idea. Obama actually thought the congress would put the nation's welfare first. NOT. The last word on their lips will be no taxes, bigger interest for wealthy people, and stop paying those poor people to breathe like human beings. They don't BUY enough."
