Michael, I don't think anyone can say ALL of the porkulus package is bad, but there is a lot, A LOT, on there that shouldn't be there. I'm sure what these republicans are saying is true and since there is no way to stop this out of control train, they might as well see what they can do for their constituents. What's the problem?

I'm really getting tired of hearing constant attempts to continue to divide the country. Hopefully, someone will take the high road before we reach a point of no return.

The Stimulus money is for everyone. If some people choose not take it than they will have their constituency to deal with. I really can't figure out why Louisiana wouldn't take it. With the post Katrina mess it would appear that they need it more than anyone. Sometimes ideology trumps common sense.

70% of the deficit was incurred during the administrations of St.Reagan, Bush 41 and Bush 43. St.Reagan tripled it, and Bush 43 doubled it.

I think it shows that they really weren't against it...They were just voting for their party. And, yah, I guess I have to say they should get it because it was passed and so they are entitled. I think they should also be red-faced when they put their hand out, but they won't be. If they really believed it was wrong to take the money, they wouldn't be asking for it.

I have a lot of respect for Jindal; if everyone took just what they needed instead of being cash hogs we would be better off. Greed seems to be the word of the day with these bailouts. Terry, Jerry what you are missing (surprise, surprise) is that there is an infinitesimal percentage of the "Pig Spending Bill, that is actually stimulative. There is no reason why republican state representatives should not want a piece of that tiny pie.

By the way, just when will the economy be "saved" by this bill? Hey, weren't there supposed to be "shovel ready" projects ready to go? Do we have to first wait for the dem representatives to stuff their pockets with kickbacks first?

Actually, it was nobody. During the Clinton administration, the growth of prime lending to low and middle income borrowers increased. The genesis of the problem was really the lax enforcement of regulations that allowed bankers to lend to whoever had a pulse.

Sadly, all this self-righteous grandstanding by Republicans is just that. In our fair state of Idaho where we are not quite the most Republican, only come in third. The powers that be want lots of stim money for CAFO research. Yup, they are going to spend 35 million on a big, feedlot for 4000 cows that will ruin our water for generations "so that consumers can come and see cows being milked, and cheese and ice cream being made." umm this is diary land, you can see any of those things free any day of the week. Need I say the diary lobby is HUGE?

Meanwhile they are voting to continue gutting the school districts and cutting unnecessary programs like advanced math, languages, and computer classes. They have had the nerve to state that we should not take stim money for education or we will get used to having it and then it will be hard to cut back the schools in future years. What a plan, we are just barely meeting national standards right now and they want to cut back education at all levels. Around here it's pretty much, "grade school was good enough for my grampa and it's good enough for my kids."

But you can't give a Republican the time of day without getting an arguement. It's back to sun dials and counting beads as far as they are concerned. I for one am sick sick sick of listening to their ignorant excuses for gutting everything but BUSINESS. It's not for jobs it's for huge bonuses for unworthy, criminal-minded executives who have their hand in the pockets of every state and most federal officials and they are not letting go of their cash cows any time soon.

President Obama is going to have to get tough because you just can't be nice to some people. It makes them think you are weak.
