Greetings my Gardening Friends. That time of year is almost here. I recently asked if anyone had started a garden and of course, our wonderful Jean, wrote an inspiring article on starting her seedlings inside. Go to www.pregnantonion.gather.com This article shows that no matter how small your space, you can have a great garden.
I would like to also introduce something that I am just learning about - Hypertufa.

Thanks folks and let me know if you try to make these wonderful hypertufa containers. I know that I am looking forward to making one. Also, hold on to those old boots, pots, bowls and anything you were planning on throwing away that can be used as a container. These make wonderful planters. Happy Gardening! Salud

I was thinking about trying a fairy garden this year, only it would have to be indoors. I have a space for it picked out, even though I generally quit gardening in the winter and try to give my green thumbs a rest.
only 3 more months til planting time for us, but i'll start seeds early. want to have a big ole veggie garden this year, and luckily i have about 1/2 an acre of yard to till up!
The the little boy I sit for and I are going to be planting tomato seeds tomorrow in a wide mouth canning jar. I figure maybe it will work like a small little greenhouse for him at his house to start a plant until it gets bigger and I can dig it out and transplant it. Hopefully it will work...if not...he will still have a blast trying. :) And we'll just purchase a tomato plant for him to grow this summer. He is so excited about this. :)
Maybe since I am going to be back out in the country, I may do some gardening. However, it will be difficult to keep the deer out.
Meanwhile my garden is doing really well. The first lettuce has three true leaves about 2 inches tall and the subsequent plantings are up with true leaves. I am ready to start the cos lettuces. The broccoli -rabe is a couple inches tall as is the kale. I lost the first planting of chard to a 10 degree night. The tomatoes are out in little red water tents looking good. My first bunch of tomato seedlings suffered damp-off so I had to start all over. As soon as they even start true growth I am moving them up to the tents and that is working better.
Oh, yeah the the first two plantings of English peas have 5 or 6 leaves as well
Got some fun bunny deco for my whimsical spring garden bed - I intend to tackle it all next week. Finally feeling up to par again.
