I would perhaps add or change #5, to mean Elders as all elderly people (Seniors.) Not necessarily your specific parents or Elders "of the church."

Just pointing out my view of "elders" rather than the commonly held view of "Elders"

Here are mine, took me a while to find my list. Had to go out to my truck ((((smiles))) I use them at drive time.

In the course of your day, Strive to bring harm to no one.
Share yourself with humility--be open to all those less fortunate.
Uplift all. You will in no way be lessened.
Give of your worldly gifts broadly and anonymously; and trust that you will be re-enriched.
Evil exists in the world—expose it to the light, and it will be diminished.
Find time for the lonely, disconnected people.
Practice kindness as openly and honestly, and as often as possible.
At every opportunity, educate with real and accepting love.
Speak soft words to the wounded spirits in the world.
Find patience when it hides from you by finding reasons to respect others.
Make a stand for others when you see them persecuted unjustly, and remain steadfast.
Upon the planet, tread lightly, and take responsibility for the inheritance of those not yet born.
Be overly gentle with others, because each single one is fighting some kind of battle—today.

And my personal anti-rage machine (for I was born or grew into a terrible, terrible temper.)
Forgive them freely--They did not have the gift of being raised by MY parents.

Wilka - Ah - my only take on "elders" is in the tribal sense, meaning elder-by-age / elder-by-experience / elder-by-initiation....And of course, in the family sense, those who have raised you.

Carolion, I very much enjoyed the re-framing of these guidelines. I think that we should re-frame and re-state all spiritual truth. It may help us to keep inspiration fresh and not let it become stale doctrine. When we force our minds to say a truth in different words it can bring out so much more meaning.

Gery, I can remember us little neighborhood kids saying that to each other - like, chanting it! - when the play got too rough. My goodness, that is a VERY old memory. And our families all went to different churches but we had all learned that rule.

Karen, that's an idea you - or someone - could turn into a wonderful workshop.

I prefer the original version. There is too much watering down of things biblical and constitutionally.

Great vision Carolion , when we expound the meaning of this commands we encourage introspection on the many ways we can apply them to our daily lives. We also open them to the universal beliefs regardless of religion because they are written in our hearts as human beings and we recognize their validity and application regardless of time and place or culture we live in.
There can only be one God, whatever form it may take.
Recognizing our humanity and transcending culture, race and religions we truly unite and speak with one voice, one mind and heart as we seek to live in peace with one another.
No one in the world could disagree with the objectives you have listed.

I'm usually critical of this sort of thing, but I think you've done a good job here.
However, #1 is a bit too loose to be recognized as a legitimate paraphrase.
