I've blogged to the new Whitehouse.gov page about this, but so far have received no answer. I cannot understand why Social Security recipients are always included in the stimulus plan but never the SSI recipients. My disability check comes to me through SSI. The reason for this is because Social Security refused my claim for 5 years until I didn't have a recent enough work history to draw Social Security & had no choice but to accept SSI instead. I'm just as disabled as SS disabled people are, but because I get SSI ( a smaller check ) I won't be getting any of the stimulus ( for the second time ) that SS people seem to be 'qualified' for.Why doesn't SSI 'qualify' ? I just want to know the reason why this is. Does anyone out there know the answer to this ?

(President Obama recently signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. This act provides for the one-time payment of $250 to individuals who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or Social Security benefits.
We expect everyone who is entitled to a payment to receive it by late May 2009. No action is required on your part.
We are currently working on the details regarding how we will issue nearly 55 million one-time payments to our beneficiaries. )
If I do now, that would be nice I guess if others on SS are getting it?
Thx John, for your comment...read the one above you from APE 131313.

I don't know who got a stimulus check, but I was disallowed because my wife is a Canadian. SSI has also not had a COLA in almost three years, so I receive the exact same amount as I did three years ago.
They are holding close to a half-million dollars of money that I was taxed involuntarily, so this is not what the Republicans call an "entitlement." I am entitled because it's my money. I have an attorney who is ready to file a class-action suit in Federal couirt if Congress attempts to cut me out of my money. There is almost 3-trillion dollars (in IOUs) in the SSI fund - enough to continue at the current rate for almost 40 years.
