I thought I'd write a quick article about Donald Trump's input on the financial crisis and the stimulus package. Good Morning, America, had Trump on a phone call and asked him about the stimulus package regarding the real estate and financial markets. Since I'm an admirer of his as a business man, I like to hear what he says.
Anyway, he said that the stimulus package may help the real estate market in a small way but he also said that he believes we are in for a long haul when it comes to a depressive economy. Something else he said is that the President's office needs to be more positive than negative. I agree with that to a degree. I do think the President is trying to be responsible by not making light of the economic situation or playing it down.
He also said that the reason the banks were bailed out was so they would go back to lending money and use the money they received to do that and help the American people but what they are doing is using the money to buy banks overseas. The problem with any bailout is that unless there are strict rules as to how the money can be used and someone to oversee that it is used that way, the bailout won't work.
They are finding this out already because the banks are not using the money to help our economy but their own pocket books which is what many of us said would happen to begin with! The American people need to get a grip and stop depending on the government or someone else to take care of them. Our country is in a serious situation and a lot of it is because the American people keep looking to the government instead of themselves.
Another thing Donald Trump said is that people keep referring to the depression years ago and don't seem to realize that it took 25 years for the economy to fully turn around! This is not going to change overnight and everyone who thinks this stimulus package is going to make everything alright is kidding themselves!
We are in a serious economic situation in this country and our country needs all of its citizens to do their part. That means stop living beyond your means and stop living on credit. Credit was designed to move the economy not for you to live on! Living on borrowed money is stupid! It's foolish because eventually you have to pay it back or it has repercussions.
Our country is experiencing those repercussions right now. People have been living off credit for 25 years and defaulting on credit cards and loans and now it's time to pay up the hard way. The biggest problem is the selfishness of all who've been living this way because now all of the country is having to pay for people who've been selfishly buying things on credit and not paying their debts off.
There were two couples on Good Morning, America, this morning discussing this. One has been making selfish choices and now is going to get help from the stimulus plan. The other couple made wise choices and didn't live on credit and saved their money to pay their mortgage and lost their jobs this year but had saved up enough to pay their mortgage for something like 24 months. They aren't going to get anything from the government and they are struggling because other people made poor choices and selfish choices.
Those of us who don't live beyond our means and work hard to take care of ourselves don't appreciate those of you who have put our country in this situation. Everyone who took out a loan for a house they knew they couldn't really afford and everyone who uses their credit cards to get from month to month is part of the problem.
I don't mean to be so hard on people but if the people of this country don't start looking hard at their own behaviors and habits, it's going to take just that much longer for our economy to turn around.
