I'm sorry I got this up so late today, but I've been away from home all day and I'm just now starting my online routine.
Here's what I'll do. I'll give you the link for the freebie. Sometime tonight (Tuesday) the resource will switch over to the Wednesday resource freebie. So if you catch this while it's still Tuesday you'll find:
1. A Chinese Wonder Book by Norman Hinsdale Pitman, Illustrated by Li Chu-T'ang, Edited by Maggie Hogan (PDF ebook) - Do you remember the old Wonder Books? We had a large collection of them as I was growing up. This particular one was first published in 1919!
"This new ebook edition of this fascinating collection of Chinese stories and legends from Bright Ideas Press is a great literature-based introduction to the rich history and culture of China.
The Chinese Wonder Book and Read-Alone Guide are part of a brand new curriculum called "Illuminations" - a multi-grade, easy-to-use curriculum designed for use with "The Mystery of History" series. It takes into account learning styles and includes Language Arts, worldview, fine arts, and much more!"
Before you click the link, you should know that to download this particular book, you'll need Adobe 9 (the free version is available from the page you enter when you get to the Big Ideas Press website). Once you have Adobe, you'll be able to save either the entire 7 item package to your computer (make sure you remember which file you save it to), or you can save just the Wonder Book. That way, you can read it at your leisure later on.
Here's the link to click on for the Freebie of the Day.
2. Now, if you don't get to this article until Wednesday, February 18, you can still click on the link, but you will find:
"Harriet Tubman & the Railway to Freedom" (MP3 audio)
This gets you a classic old time radio dramatization of the story of Harriet Tubman and the activities of the "underground railroad" during slave years.
In my growing up years, many of the local radio stations played these old radio dramas on Saturday mornings as part of their children's programs. So I've heard a lot of these dramas before. You just have to love the "old stuff."
Enjoy your freebies.
